Jeep Who makes the best winch?? I

True. I'd say this is exactly correct. I really like the nicer Warns; for example, I once owned an XD9000i which was awesome, and I really wanted a 9.5cti this time around... but it was out of my budget, so I went with the M8000. I've still been very satisfied with it. My general winch...

Help me find the next vehicle for my wife...

 Sounds perfectly logical to me. Just so you know: in the tool kit with the jack is a shiny silver screw-in tow hook eyelet thingy. There is a small plastic removable cap on each bumper (rear left, front right) which reveals a threaded hole. Pop the cap, screw in the eyelet, attach a...

You're missing one character--I'm guessing it is the third one, and I'll even go so far as to guess it is a 4.

Help me find the next vehicle for my wife...

This is very true, much more so than you made it sound. I know I'm gonna appear biased, but time and time again real-world testing has shown the Subaru AWD systems to be much more effective at putting torque to the wheel(s) that need it compared to the vast majority of other brands. I also...

    Wrangler guys.....

OEM, or Bestop (which is the same thing). I have put new soft top replacements on two of my TJs, and I went with Bestop both times. There are cheaper brands out there, but none are better.

Welcome to the group, Travis! If you've driven Hanging Tree in your Ranger, it must be pretty well built.

    Wrangler guys.....

Personally, I loathe hard tops. Jeeps are all about going topless and being in touch with nature, IMO, and having a fiberglass wall between you and the outside ruins the whole experience. In winter (December to March), I run an OEM soft top. I prefer half doors, so that means I'll have my...

help me brainstorm what to get for my next vehicle

^^ That is how you haul bikes with a Baja. Note that the vehicle was designed to do this--the bike rack is a factory accessory, the bed extender is an OEM option, and the license plate bracket (on the tailgate) swings down and locks in place to keep you legal while you do so.

help me brainstorm what to get for my next vehicle

I find it hilarious that you would say this ... and then later in the very same post you mention this as a possibility: In every way you bagged on a Subaru (economy, capability, clearance, suspension), the CR-V fares even worse. You assume incorrectly: the Ridgeline is based off the...

Mountain Dew float: experiment and results.

Oh, and for you other Mountain Dew junkies here on RME, have I got a treat for you! Go to The Slurp in American Fork (241 W Main Street) and order a Mango Mountain. Make sure they use syrup rather than puree. You'll thank me profusely later, I promise.

Northern Utah Anyone for AF canyon this afternoon (Mon June 23rd)?

Sad--you and I always seem to miss each other's runs by slim margins of time. :( I said 2:30 because--as if you couldn't tell--that is about the earliest I'd be able to show up. On the plus side, I'm fine from then on until nightfall.

Northern Utah Anyone for AF canyon this afternoon (Mon June 23rd)?

Sorry for the short notice, but it looks like I'll have lots of time to kill this afternoon and into the evening. I haven't hit AF canyon yet this year, so I'd love to head up to Forest Lake or Mineral Basin... if anyone else is available to come along. I'm flexible time-wise so long as we meet...

    Grammar 101

On a similar but less practical note is this: Pare vs Pair vs Pear "Pare" to remove the outer coating/layer; to peel. "Pair" a group of two similar items. "Pear" I'm going to pare a pair of pears. And from when I lived in Italy: "Pasto" general term for any meal. "Pasta" a flour- and...
