    96xj I6 and transmision into a 93xj

Some things to look at: Did you use the temp sender from your old motor or use one from the junk yard ? If you used a sender from a jeep with an idiot light dash indicator it would act weird. Did you install the ground strap on the back of the engine ? Maybe you have an air pocket in the...

I'm thinking of picking up a late 90's Ford Ranger

I wouldn't do it if gas cost is the main issue. A 99-2000 4x4 Ranger will cost about $5000-6000 and if it gets 20 MPG and you drive it for 10,000 miles per year you will save 166 gallons of gas. At $3.50/gallon you would save about $500 a year paying the truck off in 10-12 years not including...

    Problems bending thin walled tube

I'm using the largest radius die that I have so maybe I'll have to live with the wrinkles or use thicker walled tube.

    Problems bending thin walled tube

I am trying my hand at building a custom exhaust collector and have been bending thin walled tubing. I am using a ProTools air over hydraulic tubing bender and when I bend the thin stuff I get wrinkles on the inside curves. I even tried packing one bend with dry sand and sprayed the dies with...

is it worth upgrading to 35's?

With 4.56 gears the tire that would most closely match the stock set up assuming it had 3.55 gears and 28 inch tires from the factory would be: 28x4.56/3.55 = 35.9 So if you are trying to get the stock ratio/RPMs back the 35s would get you there. Mass of the tire however would affect it as...

School me on front 4 link

When I put long arms on my son's jeep comanche it had fairly high anti dive numbers due to the difficulty in placing the upper and lower frame mounts. To improve it I would have to drop the lower mounts and lose ground clearance or go up through the floor for the uppers. As it is now the high...

I'm Looking for Old Photographs of 4x4's

Great pictures Jack, I figured if anyone had some old wheeling pictures it would be you. We used our old 4x4s back then to get to the best hunting, fishing, camping, and rockhounding places not so much for group wheeling adventures.

I'm Looking for Old Photographs of 4x4's

Well these may not fit what you want exactly but they were fun to dig up. It seems back then we took pictures when we made it somewhere rather than while we were traveling. These include a shot of my dad's 48 willys, our 59 Chev Apache, our 70 chevy 3/4 ton a friends wagoneer and another friends...

Torx bolts on TJ windshield frame

Welding a nut on works well but can be tough on nearby paint if that is a concern.

Torx bolts on TJ windshield frame

If you end up stripping the bolt out with the impact tool you can drill them out using a reverse rotation drill bit. Often the drill bit will walk them out once the drill gets in a ways.
