    Trails around Salt Lake

Ah the back peddle. Thanks for continuing to add substance to this thread. You quoted wrong bud, it's ok, we all make mistakes. Kurt took the high road and decided to be constructive and add to the thread and I appreciate that. I look forward to more e-baddassness from you. :D Now back to the...

    Trails around Salt Lake

Reading comprehension fails you my friend. I have no beef with Kurt. In fact I greatly appreciate the time he just took to give me a short history of this area. It's people like you, JL Rockies and black_ZJ that have brought nothing of substance to this thread and to which my comment that you...

    Trails around Salt Lake

I've been going through the trip reports section which is actually what led me to post in this thread. From the sounds of it delta has some trails I'd love to check out. That makes sense. Apathy is unfortunately a big problem for this sport and has contributed to many top notch trails and...

    Trails around Salt Lake

Glad to entertain. :D No assumptions were made. There are two areas within an hours and a halfs drive of salt lake to wheel and a handful that are within two to three hours. I can accept that and I look forward to seeing some of the trails down south. I was just curious why there weren't more...

    Trails around Salt Lake

That's the kind of information I was looking for. ;) And for the record, my question was honest and I do appreciate your response above.

    Trails around Salt Lake

Plenty of fun places to wheel in or around Idaho Falls and they're constantly developing new trails. It's not as beautiful or as expansive as moab but it really is nice to hit the trails in a half hour. Close trails were the focus of my posts and reason for my comments.

    Trails around Salt Lake

Thank you for enlightening me on areas I haven't been to yet. :D I need to get down there and check them out for sure. Bit farther than I like to travel but hey, I love the sport. Lets face it, 99% of the people on this board wheel 5 mile and little moab because that's all that's near by...

    Trails around Salt Lake

Like I said, I'm new to the area. Maybe there are plenty of great trails I don't know about which was the whole purpose of my posts. All the places you mentioned are two or more hours away which is fine, I was just curious why there aren't more trails up here. Maybe I am ill informed and if...

    Trails around Salt Lake

Exactly. Even if it were down towards Delta or something like that but had a bunch of trails it would be great.

    Trails around Salt Lake

I don't know this area well but I'd be willing to bet there are a ton of suitable places for an OHV park within an hour or two's drive of Salt Lake. Even the 5 mile area has potential for more rock crawling with some trail development.

    Trails around Salt Lake

I think this would be a wonderful idea if a suitable area could be found (not necessarily in Ogden). I think a decent sized and well built OHV park in Utah would do VERY well.

    Trails around Salt Lake

All true for sure. :D It still doesn't change the fact that they have world class wheeling all over the place. :D

    Trails around Salt Lake

Yes, within an hour of NON rush hour traffic I had tons of great trails in both Idaho Falls and Vegas (which is a LOT bigger than Salt Lake if you want to argue population density). Add to that all the trails within a 2 hour drive of either location and it makes what we have here seem limited in...

    Hanging Tree Trail (Update)

Is there anything else we can do keep this trail open? I haven't even ran it yet but it looks great.

    Trails around Salt Lake

Yeah but liberal Michigan is a no brainer. Utah is conservative and yet there are no trails despite TONS of land. Anything more an hour and you can rule out night runs which is a blast. So then you're talking only wheeling on the weekends and that really limits how many times you can wheel in...

    Trails around Salt Lake

I'm new to the area and am still trying to find places to wheel within a reasonable drive of Salt Lake. So far I've heard of the following. - The bountiful B (sounds easy) - Little Moab (fun but very small) - 5 Mile (I still need to do constrictor but rattlesnake is meh after awhile)...

    Hanging Tree Trail (Update)

How difficult is this trail? I'm thinking of tagging along with a group this weekend.

New to off-roading and the forum

Toyota's are great all around vehicles. I'd say an 86'+ toyota will be about as expensive as a YJ to make trail capable overall though. I would stay away from the F150 if you plan on using it for wheeling. If you've been bitten by the 4x4 bug the F150 won't serve your needs for long. My...

5 mile Night run this week?

Next time I head out I'd like to go with guys that are going to do constrictor since I haven't been able to do it yet. Waynes world seemed harder this time around. Trying to crawl it just didn't work so I gave it a little bump and it climbed right up.
