    I Drove!

Good for you! You got more seat time behind the wheel in Moab than I did, so I'm jealous.

    Light weight buggies

Considering that some buggies weigh a TOTAL of 2600 lbs., she's a heavy girl for sure (I mean Matt's rig, not SRN's Mom). :p

    Light weight buggies

As a comparison, we just added up the weight of just the powertrain & axles of Matt's Jeep here at the shop... Ford 460 C-6 trans. NP203/205 Front Dana 60 w/ way beefy double ended ram mount and link bracketry Rear Dana 80 2600 lbs. :greg:

    First attempt at buggy build

I wouldn't worry a whole lot about issues with the front end "lifting" on verts (in regards to making your squat/anti-squat choice for the rear). After all, you can use your front winch to suck down your front suspension during those steep climbs. So, simply do what is best for the geometry...

    BHR custom FJ40 w/ Hi-9's build-up...

No offense taken... I just figured you simply threw out a number without adding alot of this stuff up. Its common for people to under-estimate just how expensive these parts are and how much time it takes to build something like this. Hell, we are often surprised at how much fabrication...

    BHR custom FJ40 w/ Hi-9's build-up...

Wayne, you're killin' me man. :eek2: You've been in the industry long enough to know how inacurate even your guess is... The parts/materials alone can easily reach that range with a vehicle like this. Every part (minus some of the body) is brand new, nothing from the junkyard or...

We will be at the DATC show, but as far as I know, the FJ40 won't be going anywhere until the following weekend in Moab.

    Axles vs axels

I don't care how people type it, but simply pronounce it "D" "O" "M" (in individual letters) when speaking, thats all. Whats even more rediculous is when people try to sound out "HREW", as if its a word.

    Axles vs axels

My favorites are: "dual cardigan" driveshaft (actually its "dual cardan") "Dom" tubing (D.O.M. is an acronym which stands for "drawn over mandrel") Below is a picture of "dual cardigan" sweaters. Also, here is a picture of Dom Deluise. None of these are 4x4 related. :p

    First attempt at buggy build

By "driveshaft angles", my thoughts were more about getting it up away from the rocks and less about the actual operation of the driveshaft itself. In the case of this particular build, the extra strength of a high-pinion would just be a bonus (although the low-pinion should hold up fine).

    First attempt at buggy build

You'll find that everyone here is an expert and will happily throw in their .02 (and I'm no different). :p So, having that said, here's my own recommendation... Prior to setting up your front end, mounting your drivetrain, and having a front driveline built, seriously consider running...

    First attempt at buggy build

Like Rockmonkey's post above, I too was wondering about the 1 1/4" OD tube. Just brace/gusset the hell out of it and see how it holds up. It's not like it will fall apart or fold in half or anything, so go for it. I've gotta give ya credit, as it looks as though you're staying true to the...

Best MT tire for a Dual purpose rig

This is the first set of these I've run, so I dunno. I tow a 24' tongue-pull enclosed alot (and fairly long distances), and that definitely accellerates wear... My last set were Maxxis Big Horns and I got 35k before they were nearly treadless. I towed alot with those too though. These...

Best MT tire for a Dual purpose rig

They get rotated ALOT, but its still a Ford SD, and you'll always get cupping on the fronts no matter the tire or how good the ball joints are. Once I move them to the rear, they flatten back out. :D
