Good eye. First, the hood slopes more than a typical TJ due to the tub having a 1" body lift, yet the grille was left at stock height. This additional slope makes for better visability. Due to additional slope of the hood, the choice was made to have the fenders follow the same lines.

Update (continued) A couple pics of the cage progress... The front section is a "through the dash design" and all tubes going to the floor and rear wheelwells are tied into the frame.

Update (continued) Here is a front view showing the high-clearance fenders/cut hood. Like most 4x4 owners, Greg's goal has always been to run a relatively large tire (40", in this case), very limited lift, yet retain as much up-travel as possible.
