    Just curious...

My 84 cj8 doesn't quite fit the vintage label but my 46-48 Bantam 3C trailer that I have been working on does.

jeep 4.0 going through ignition coils weekly

The only way the coil would draw more current is if the coil resistance dropped or the voltage went up ( Current = Voltage/Resistance ). If the alternator was causing the voltage to go too high for some reason things would start to fail. The ignition system is different between a 97 and a 92...

question of wheelin and your better half

My wife loves to go wheeling and has even found some of our rigs. She will even get greasy in the garage and has helped put in motors, trannys, and other things. She's a bit chicken on driving the rough stuff but I did get her to do rattlesnake last fall.

jeep 4.0 going through ignition coils weekly

I would call Hesco maybe they have seen the same problem before. Some wiring systems add resistance inline with the coil power feed to reduce the current going through the coil. Sometimes it is done with a resistor and sometimes the wire feeding the coil is resistive. On my old chevy truck they...

    Re-using U bolts? U-bolt flip?

I did a ubolt flip on my scrambler with wagoneer dana 44s. I found some junk yard brackets that helped make it work well. Send me a PM and I can show you what I did. I used new square ubolts from 6 states.

    Wow...incredibly lucky

I talked to guy back east that had the same thing happen to his jeep except it was his friend in the passenger seat that nearly got skewered by a stick shoved through the floor. He was however driving an old rusty wagoneer with rotted out floors, not a brand new Jeep.

    4.56 or 4.88

I'd go 4.88. When I do the math, 35/28 x 3.73 = 4.66 QUOTE] The only difference in the math was the tire diameter, I used 29 you used 28. A 235/75r15 comes in at 28.9" which I rounded up to 29. Both ratios would be better than the stock 3.73 but the 4.56 will be a bit stronger.

    4.56 or 4.88

If the stock tires were 235 (roughly 29 inch tire) with 3.73 gears the new ratio math looks like this: 3.73/29xPI = X/35xPI X = 4.50 So 4.56 would get you back to stock with 35 inch tires.

    XJ help

My brother bought a TJ from the auction block and it ran fine when they did a test run before the auction. It died just before the auction with the same symptoms as yours. He got it for less than the minimum bid and we found that it was the plugs. There must be something about sitting for a...

    Renix injector problem

I have been looking on ebay and there are lots of the 19# ford injectors to choose from. I'll have to see what I can get. The newer injectors are 21 # but should work if the computer has enough range in the controls to compensate. I also have several sets of these. I may have to use these so the...

    Renix injector problem

My son's 87 comanche started to have a strong gas smell so I popped the hood and it has major injector leaks. At first I thought that the seals may be bad but the gas is leaking out of the iinjector electrical connector. All but one injector is leaking. I measured the fuel rail pressure and it...

    Tall jack stand?

I have something even better that I use, an air powerd body jack. I can lift a jeep way off the ground and it is very stable. I also have a set of 3 foot high fixed jacks that work well. Stop on by if you want to try the jack.

    Humph to winter

We got a fair amount of snow here by Holiday but we went out to help the kids in West Jordan and they had more than we did. Good thing I had eight snowblowers to choose from.

    1985 2.8L v6 swap!!!!!!!!

If you want a real project you can drop a 4.0 in like I did in my old 86 xj. Lots of work but it worked great for me.

    Bucket seats?!?

My son's comanche buckets don't seem too high, maybe the brackets are a bit different than the xj ones but I would be surprised if they were. I could measure from the seat to the roof on his mj if that would help out.
