Thinking about a new rig for exploring

I enjoyed my Durango a lot. I think a SAS first gen. Durango would be very cool!

    backpacking gear recomendations?

Not starting on the Mirror Lake Highway. As the trip gets closer I will post more details on the route we are taking (I did not plan it) and see what tips I can gather.

Now THIS would make me a jeep fan

The truck in the original post if pretty dang cool. The one on KSL is pretty sweet, too. However, I am in the "dreaming of a JK" crowd! Everyone bring me your sick dogs so I can afford one this fall when my daughter gets her license (she'd get Monty- not the Jeep.)

    Winter is back

Short, but ugly storm. We only ended up with an inch or so at home in Grantsville, little more here at work. But, driving home a little after 7pm last night could hardly see to stay on the road near the airport and ended up exiting at the International Center and waiting about 15 minutes for...

    backpacking gear recomendations?

Thanks for all the great info thus far. Keep it coming! Mesha, are you at Rec Outlet in Salt Lake or elsewhere? Eric, I have seen your 'Mog at some of the Scout camps, with envy! As far as stoves, will be cooking for 2- mostly heating water for dehydrated meals and drinks. Any real...

    backpacking gear recomendations?

I have not done significant backpacking in more years than I should admit. However, will be part of the leadership taking scouts on a 6 day/50 mile Kings Peak trip this summer. Time to start getting the gear! The two main things I need to buy are a back packing stove and of course a...

    looking for ideas

My son is interested in this old Chevy (about '47-51 window) ice cream truck as his high school wheels (he is 13 now.) http://s834.photobucket.com/albums/zz266/houndoc/ice%20cream%20truck/ Looking for ideas and suggestions on getting it not into show condition but decent daily driver...

I have the chance to work with eagles (while they are under anesthesia) and certainly would not want one of lay its talons into me! Nice close up pics!

    I need some tire suggestions

I'll agree with that. I got nearly 80K out of the first set I ran on my Montero Sport, and went back to them after a failed experiment with a different tire. I have also liked Cooper Discoverer ATs in the past. Currently have them on my Ram 2500 (now named Discoverer ATRs.) Not sure yet just...

Need advice on a reliable 4x4 DD for the wife

Looking over the other posts, I will add in that if you will not be wheeling with it, the Subaru is a good choice. I've owned several of the years and like all of them. Seems like the FZJ option will kill you on gas costs, but if you do want something to wheel it, they would be a good choice...
