    Buliding a frame from scratch.?

It's hard to see, but there is a piece of 1/2" thick plate reinforcing each of these joints. I used 1/2" so that I would end up with 3" accross to fit the wrangler springs. Here is another angle- "booty fab" I call it. :D The line is where I will probably cut them when I clean it all up.

    Buliding a frame from scratch.?

Too late. I welded in only the intermediate crossmember for now. The front and rear are held at the right width by some temporary crossmembers that will be removed. I wanted to wait to do the front to make sure everything is going to clear. A set of heavy duty bumpers will also help...

I like the week after- so much more clean up to do. :mad2: I have ran with the official EJS crew and solo, and I can tell you that the trail leaders I have been with do everything in their power to make it an enjoyable experience for everyone, while also educating them about land use...

The HD 44 had the big hubs and outers, but it runs the 5-297x joints.

Identifying A Dana 60 Front Axle

Just guessing- By what I can make out of the u-joint and the steering arm, I am inclined to say HD44 used from 76-77.5 on Ford F-250's.

    Buliding a frame from scratch.?

Well here goes nothing. I decided to do it 66CJDean style. Started cutting pieces out. This shows the holes for the rossette welds and getting ready to drill the shackle bushings 1.5". Here is the two front pieces welded.

    Buliding a frame from scratch.?

I'll probably just build it rigid... I just wondered if there was a more correct way to attach it.

    Buliding a frame from scratch.?

So here's a question I have not seen answered in any of the searching I have done. (Remember alotlottlottlotlot) Attaching the crossmembers. Do you just weld them in and call it good? Won't that lead to cracking later on? The original frames were designed to flex, and it looks to me as...

    Buliding a frame from scratch.?

Just wondering if anyone has tackled building a frame for an early jeep? The Willys has a terrible repair on the drivers side spring hanger that has caused more cracking ahead of and behind it. The PO scabbed a peice of 4x4" angle iron on it to make a new spring hanger. Darrin welded the...

Yeah it's simple. The hard part is getting the angles right. Working in multiple planes makes my head spin....

On a sheet metal note, I just picked up a pneumatic nibbler. Man are these things cool. One of the best ways to cut sheet metal parts that I have found.

Well, they did get one thing right. Law enforcement needs the budget to make sure that the minority of abusers is stopped. I have always and will always be for more enforcement upon the individual abusers as it will save the land for the rest of us. And I mean harsh enforcement. Like do it once...
