Yeah, the new frame is 27.5". I didn't expect to run into a set of 1-ton axles when I was planning it. I probably would have outboarded the rears at least. That is what is causing the quandry, but if I can shave it and narrow it without running custom axles in the rear it should be worth it...

That's a good point. I'll have to get out a tape. I don't have the 14 bolt in my possession yet, but that diff section is wide.

Well, I been doing my homework. Cool fact that might swing this into a done deal. 14ff have two different shaft lengths. 37+5/8" and one 31+5/8" some. If you cut 7" off of the pass side, you can run same shafts on both sides and end up with offset rear that is about 61" WMS! Transfer case...

No they won't be full width. 5" off of each + H1 wheels will give it width of about 68" outside to outside of tires. 5" off the pass side should keep the D18 lined up nicely. Also the 14 ff would not go in without a major flat bottom job. The pic in my avatar is w/stock axles and 10"...

36" 's on tap right now. I'm buying them either way. Just wondered if they were too big for this rig. I like the idea of almost never having to worry about the u-joints.

What's your opinion? I have stumbled upon a Chev one ton truck with a front 60 and 14 bolt rear. Would these axles just be too big for the Willys. I have lengthened the wheelbase, but it's still gonna be under 90". I already have the H1 wheels and tires, so that is not an issue. I also already...

I have to agree with Wayne. The C4 was original equipment in my Bronc and it was it's achilles heel. I found a deal on an NV4500 and would never go back. A few guys around here that do run the c-4 keep a spare rebuilt and ready to go. Not my idea of a good time!
