I don't know a lot, but I remember reading a post by the ARB rep that said that he was looking for someone running an eaton to test the new 14bolt ARB. He made it sound like the 14 bolt carrier was interchangeable with the Eaton. The third picture you posted looks alot like my 14 bolt, maybe...

Eaton.... story i heard says that GM and Ford both bought the patent rights from the same designer, hence the similiarities between the two.

I too have done quite a few Yukons and have never seen a failure. I have seen a Genuine give up the ghost too soon, though!

Lock-rights will do that. It will exagerate any other problem you may have. Make sure the steering box has not worked loose and your tires are all the same size/pressure.

Wow! Glad to hear noone was hurt. I've learned you gotta be careful in this area due to the retirement homes and St.Marks hospital. Seems to bring out the "I only drive when absolutely necessary" blue haired old folks.

The first time your cruising down the relativley dry freeway and hit the spot under an offramp where the moisture from the day never evaporated and it's just freezing -- you will wish you had waited and put in selectables. My idea was similiar- use a 4WD subaru with the motor in the rear - adapt the portal boxes and everything rotates the right way. Use a WRX sti motor and you have 300 HP 4x4 that weighs very little!! :D

I have kicked around an idea similiar to that, but with portal ends.

I was once told that it can be done. The kit car guys do it all the time. Utah and other states have compacts that they will allow a titled vehicle from that other state to be lisenced in Utah. So - you may have to license it in a state where it is easy to do so and then bring it to Utah a year...
