GMC / Chevy can someone tell me what type of axle this is

Ya'll are smokin something. That's the rare six lug Dana 60 (only used on the 86 half ton Burbs, by the way). :) Has to be, because any fool can get the steering arm off a 10 bolt or a 44.

GMC / Chevy show me your front axles

Wait, give the kid a break....... What exactly have you tried? Oxy/acetlyne torch or propane? If you've just been using a bit of propane, you're wasting your time. Get that sucka red hot, then beat the snot out of it. I'd offer to take it off for you, if you bring me the knuckle. But...

GMC / Chevy show me your front axles

No, you didn't. They have told you to heat and beat it, and that works 9 times out of 10. I told you if that didn't work, to cut it up with a cut off wheel peice by peice. Had you done either of these it would be off.

    My Alaskan Camper

The 460 was an option on that truck. Look on KSL for some old cable style camper jacks, that will get it on and off slick.

You have no idea how long it took me to restore those blue plastic POS either. It was worth it, plastic is cooler than Warn anyday.. ;)

GMC / Chevy show me your front axles

Does this help? :D Here's an idea, I think what you're trying to ask is. I'm working on getting the steering arm off an 86 half ton Chevy. Although many wise people here have told me how to do it, I'm dead set on not listening to them, and just replacing the axle...

Detroit in a tow rig, yea or nay

I had one in my old Polygamy Cab dually. It sucked! I had a camper on mine, and the Jeep on a trailer behind that. I think if the bed were kept unloaded, it wouldn't be bad. But in my case, I feel very lucky to not have broken anything. If it's free, fine. If not, I wouldn't spend a dime...

    WooHoo!!

Spring has officialy arrived! First, it's raining out side. Damn, I hate rain in January. Second, the first of what will probably be hundreds of snot nosed little kids rang my door bell earlier trying to sell me cookies. It's spring, just has to be. If it weren't raining, I'd go out and...

    Have we got a list...

Your list seems to be a mix of both. Personally, I'd be more interested in more of a good honest retailer list. If I need something manufactured, I know who will do it.

There's another one that should go on this list, if he's still has the biz.

    turbos...

Here's your answer. Like Tacoma said, a bolt on superchager would be the ticket, but there are a ton of things to consider no matter which way you decided to go. One big headache is the loss of intake manifold vacuum. You will potentially lose braking assist, HVAC controls, and any other...

Sloppy Tilt column, Jeep CJ Questions

Mine was out of a mid 70's Monte Carlo, it was pretty much a plug and play swap. The Monte part had the shifter on the column, which is what I wanted. Plenty of GM's of that era had floor shifts, so finding one shouldn't be too hard. Keep in mind, you're installing an identical column to what...

    Have we got a list...

There is already a list, you're just not allowed to see it till you learn the secret hand shake.... Oh, and you're also a little misinformed. Teraflex rocks on Chebby and Ferd parts as well. I think I've purchased more Ford and Chev parts from them than I have Jeep stuff. But I understand...

GMC / Chevy Whats the best ratio

Alf hinted at it, the axles under that Burb aren't worth puting gears into. Pick up a good used pair of 4.10 geared 3/4 or one tons and you'll be much better off.
