I'm a huge 80's model Chevy/GMC fan! My 83 GMC truck (Excaliber) is dying... Ive owned him for over 10 years and beat the crap out of him. I quit dumping $$$$ in him because he isn't practical for harder 4x4 trails. So to replace him I choose to get me a 1984 Chevy Blazer Military M1009 6.2L Diesel 24v system. *Here's my build...

I picked up this stock 1984 Chevy Blazer M1009 from a college kid in Logan, Utah for a killer deal! New leather bucket seats already installed with the 4 point harness! He runs like a champ!

His new name is Hercules...

The first upgrades for him are custom build axles from Boyce Equipment.
Front is a new Dana 60 with 4.56 gears and Arb air lockers installed.

Rear is a rebuild 14 bolt FF with 4.56 gears and Arb air lockers installed.

For rims I went on Ksl.com and got me a set of aluminum 16.5 rims that are 10" wide with a good off-set for only $100.
For tires I made a deal with Mark (Owner) of Boyce Equipment. I traded him my x4 3/4 thread BFG A/T 285/75/R16 tires and old school 16" rims for 5x of his 80%+ thread Military take offs. 37/12.5/R16.5 tires. We both agreed the value of the trade was equal in price. I went to Les Schwab to get them mounted and balanced.
These are gonna be my daily drivers since they are hard rubber rated for a lot of miles.

I also snagged a used set of 56" rear M1008 1 Ton leaf springs from Boyce Equipment. I took them to the car wash and cleaned them up real good. Then took them apart and removed the over load and 2 leafs. Put them back together with a grade 8 center bolt, primed, painted and shop re arched them 4". These 56" leaf springs are going in the front.

Shop called up crabtree and they pulled me a set of 64" rear springs from an old 88 chevy 2wd truck. They are in great shape and they are going on the rear of the blazer with no modifications. Keeping the over load in them for towing.*

I wanted to reduce some weight so I took off the heavy stock blazer tailgate and got this pick up truck tailgate from the junkyard. It was a direct bolt on 30 min job.

I got this rear bumper from a fellow RME member. The business that made these went out of business years ago... But I love the design!

Shop emailed me these flex test pics. I'm very impressed! They said it flexes just as good as a coil-over system. Except at a cheaper price:)

I ordered this LMC vented truck hood for Excaliber a long time ago. I checked the catalog and it's the same part number for the blazer (Hurcules) as well. It bolted right on after swapping the old hoods hardware to the new hood! Will help great for those long hot trips with keeping the motor cool.

I then took off the 300 pound hard top. Good weight reduction! The shop helped me install the soft top cuz it requires 2 people and they were about to close for the day so... Rush rush!

It was a tight fit! The rear corners of the softtop wouldn't go down. Also I noticed that on the rear roof edge where the topper tabs onto the roof, I for see water and wind coming threw while driving. I'm going to keep the hard top and stock tailgate handy for the winters.

The shop put him outside for a sun tan! Lol! Kidding! The heat helped the topper expand so it would fit better. Which it did! Also I took off the Euro front cab corners, Alum steering wheel and alum bowtie rearview mirror from Excaliber and put them on Hercules. Looks darn good! I didn't think camo and chrome would look this good! Lol!
Look how big and sexy he looks compaired to the Heep! Ha!

Nice rear bumper where did you get it. :), looks like it needs some mods to fit did not realize that it would. Never knew barn doors and a tailgate were different sizes.

Pretty cool so far!

Thank ya!

She fits great although your right. I'm going to have to get some of the tubes cut, added and modified so the tailgate can come all the way down. That is last on my to do list:)
