Wow, you do work fast. How tall is it to the top of the cage at full bump, and how much up travel? Did you buy that square dash tube with the wide radius bend in it? Looking great!

I am going to use DiBond for the floor and fire wall. I have been working with this stuff for a little time now. I use it to built ambulances interior walls. This stuff is super strong! and really light. best part is it doesn't have that tiny sound of sheet metal.

Interesting. After reading more about DiBond, I was thinking I could use it for the interior of our toyhauler... the only pricing I found was on Amazon - 3 mil 4'x8' sheet for $180 (I'd need about 30 sheets ) I'll stick to the original plan of plywood :D

I picked up a sheet of dibond today, 3mm white on both sides. I bought it from a local sign store here and for a 4x10 sheet they only charged me 100 even. I thought that was a really good deal. So I finished up framing the floor and cut some panels to lay down. This stuff was so easy to cut with a body saw it was a joke. Once put down and the seats fitted in I took a seat in the cab and adjusted the petals a little. if i didnt have such short legs this set up would not work. I also got a chance to do a valve job and paint the valve cover and intake plenum. Which by the way was coated on the inside with a nice thick layer of sludge, courtesy of the EGR valve. So I soaked the plenum in some purple power overnight and then pressure washed it clean :) and blocked off the EGR port.

I haven't measured exactly, but I am 5'10'' and it comes up right below my chin. I will have 4-5" up and the rest down. But we will see.. oh and the dash bar, I actually fount it in the business next doors recycle bin :D

have you hooked up any of the lights yet? the HID's are bright !!

Thanks everyone! There is always more to projects like these than you think when you first start. And it is almost a mental challenge sometimes to stay motivated and finish. But you guy all help, with your positive comments and encouraging words.
Best part is I know I will be wheeling with most of you at one point here soon :)

Looking good! Your post about dibond intrigued me because I'm looking for an alternative to some of the flooring in my rig too. My biggest concern is the flooring above exhaust or near engine compartment.

So in searching I found that dibond is resistant up to 125 deg F, but polycarbonate is resistant up to 257 deg F. I'm starting to wonder what a layer of polycarbonate bonded to a thin sheet of aluminum might do for the heat sensitive areas. Might have to do a small scale test. :D

Good stuff, keep up the progress!

interesting, i had planned on wrapping my exhaust so i hope that will help a little with the heat. i am not to worried about it. I have taken a torch to this stuff before, when I had to make a round section for a corner, and it took longer than i thought before it became malleable enough to form it. they do make thicker sections of dibond. or even alumilight. same stuff but the polycarbonate is waffle style in between the aluminum instead of a solid. I guess i will just have to wait and find out.

Also, if they are using polycarbonate and aluminum to make dibond, I bet the lower heat rating is probably because of the bonding agent. Doesn't sound like it's going to hurt the actual material. I'll bet heat shielding the exhaust areas would work perfectly with dibond.

What about using some insulator mat above your exhaust components as well. I bet that would do the trick! The cool thing is from what I've been reading is that polycarbonate and dibond is supposed to be pretty flame retardant.

Insulator mat:

I think that’s what i will do. But yeah the flame retardant properties of DiBond are what first sparked my interest in using this stuff for my fire wall. I am making all the floor boards and fire wall removable, I like the idea of being able to remove it all and be able to access my undercarriage, bell housing bolts, ect..
