Build Thread: Sixstringsteve's 2005 4Runner Lorenzo

I must be one of the weird ones because a 5th gen is the first toyota I've considered owning ha.

I guess I'm in the minority (along with Chance)....I would love to have one of these:

I like the headlights a lot, but I can't get used to the part under them. I love everything else about the rig though. It'll be interesting to see what ARB comes up with for a bumper on those.

I know of a 4th gen 4runner you could use for a prototype aluminum bumper. :)

I'd be all over that. I have been holding my tongue for a bit for not wanting to clutter up this new thread but it's too late for that ha; but I have an idea for some slick rocker panel protection that is not "sliders" if later on you decide you need some rocker protection.

I'd love to sit down and brainstorm with you on it sometime. I'm ok with sliders as long as I still have a good platform to stand on when entering the vehicle.

what about a plate bumper from scotty at addicted? I personally am going to buy one for my taco. I think he said that he would make it out of aluminum, for an extra cost of course . I love how they look

im not a huge fan of the looks of the addicted bumper, but it does look super sturdy and low profile. the 4th gens have weird body lines and I've only seen a handful of bumpers for them that i like. maybe if i saw one in person i'd love the looks of the addicted bumper.

This is a 4Runner.

It's like the college football star that kept eating after he quit playing and just blimped up to double his weight.

I'm fine that toyota makes this vehicle and to be honest they are really nice, but it's no 4runner, name is something else... Like the McDonalds Double Big Mac.

i like demello's bumper even more than shrockworks. this is one of my favorite 4th gens. i dont plan to make mine that big. i wonder how it would look with less lift and smaller tires.

and i really like these wheels in conjunction with the big tires.

My camping trip this weekend has me realize I need a better way to organize my gear in the back. I'd like to carry a spare 5 gal of gas and 5 gal water, but I don't want my scepter cans bouncing around in the back. I'm thinking a hitch mounted rack for short trips would be useful. I'm not sure how I'd feel about it being in the way of the tailgate. I don't need insane ground clearance, so it can stick out a bit.

A nice low-profile roof rack would be super handy, but they typically kill the mpg.
