This is such a hard thing to pick sides on. Teachers should be safe.. no doubt. But on the other hand, the rate of children not doing their 'home schooling' work was extremely high, like over 90%. Parents aren't stepping up to help their children. Also, after the last closure of schools, it was very obvious that my children were becoming depressed without the ability to socialize.

I understand, but at this rate the schools won't have any healthy teachers available to teach in person or online. It's spreading fast and putting teachers at huge risk.

@Greg they don't have any shut-down contingencies in place? Out here, when a high school or middle school hit a certain number of positives in the building (doesn't matter who it is), they shut it down for 2 weeks.

I think there are a few high schools shut down, right now.

Yeah, we do have them in place... but they doubled that number right before the school district hit it.

This truth lights me up like no other!

When school first started back up, I had researched to see if an online homework tutoring business would be viable. At first, I figured it was an awareness thing, you know... like they just didn't realize how much help a teacher provides? Or that their children might actually need help. I wanted to find out their assumptions.

But, when I put out ads to gauge interest and started talking to people, lots of people, I was really disheartened. Not from a business sense but from that, "Shit, I forgot how lazy (and then ironically demanding) lots of parents are."

Breaks my heart.

I dunno man. It's easy to judge, but after a few hundred consecutive 12 hour days, sometimes it's hard to sit at a table trying to teach a 7 year old to spell.

Our high school just paused in-person classes for the next 3 weeks. There have been maybe 10 students who got covid since August, so anyone who had contact with them was quarantined for two weeks, or one week then tested. I haven't heard of any teachers contracting covid out here. I do know a teacher who was quarantined for exposure, but didn't get anything.

Heard immunity will not eradicate this......it hasnt eradicated other diseases either. Heard immunity works when you are immune from catching it. As they have learned you can still catch this after you've had it....so you don't build immunity at least not long term.....so heard immunity is a farce. I will bet that even the vaccine will need to be received yearly at least at first. Maybe they can come up with something rhat will give long term immunity but so far outside of everyone getting it in a 3 month span heard immunity doesn't so much

How's a vaccine going to help if you can catch it after you've had it? Can Corona mutate to be caught again? Sounds like a glorified flu shot to me...

It's interesting that five days after the election a vaccine is on the brink of success. They couldn't let that out of the bag prior to the election of course, big pharma is with the Dem's all the way. Trump's ideas of affordable medicine isn't what they want.

My wife has the China virus now for sure, I'm about 98% sure I have it now too. Same symptoms as her. I'll be glad to have it over with, our kids are all here with us of course and are showing no signs of it at all.

Get tested for sure, my wife was certain she had it as well and her test results came back negative. Whatever she had, cleared up within a few days.

No need for me to spend money on testing. I don't care either way, I'd chalk it up to a cold if she hadn't been tested positive and my buddy I hunted with and drove with has a confirmed cast too. With her having it, I'm stuck here anyway, so we'll just deal with it.

Riddle me this......

If masks are a solution to reducing/stopping transmission, then why is it that if 2 people wearing masks were close enough together for the decided upon amount of time and one of them tests positive........why does the other person need to quarantine?

Don't ask me, my kid ended up being quarantined yesterday after all the false alarms. From what I understand she sat in a classroom with a mask next to a kid wearing a mask that tested negative for covid but someone in their house tested positive so my daughter has to quarantine.

🤣 so my non medical grade “insert random piece of cloth here” is filtering out the virus. Just comical

Look I don’t buy it but I’ll shut up and color to keep businesses open by wearing a mask to keep my water droplets all to myself. But don’t try and feed me the steaming pile of 💩 that it’s protecting me from others by filtering out the virus.
