are emissions going to be a problem? Only issue I'd be worried about is the front diff holding up to that much power. That'd be a sweet combination though. The only way it could be cooler is if it had fzj 80 axles. :D

Just in case you haven't seen these yet. This should get you excited. Just don't drive like these idiots on the road:

not sure which engine this is. They say lexus v8. I'm guessing the 4.0

and I know you want 40k or less, but this might be a good alternative:

I'll check those out when I get home in a couple hours. That is a good deal for that drivetrain. Nic has a line on 2. One with 30 something and one with 100. They are both more than that one but I wonder what it would cost me to ship or pick it up. Unless Greg wants to bring it to me for npld? I don't know how close it is to him but he could get all his gas paid for. ;)

I decided I couldn't have my truck down for a month or more doing the swap. It will have to be a project for the future. I picked up a 2004 double cab today with low miles and limited trim.

I went down to low range today to pick up some lift stuff but I forgot my wallet. I will be headed back there tomorrow. I also plan on ordering up another set of general grabbers in the mini 33" flavor and some new wheels. I'm pretty excited. :D

Now I need to find something that I can wheel cause this truck is way too big.

It's not a trd. But it does have a lsd rear end. And I plan to do some suspension upgrades. There is not much included in the trd package. It offers some stickers, a stiffer suspension, some yellow shocks, some different wheels and a little bit bigger tires. I plan on changing most of that anyways. The lsd wasn't actually even a part of any package, it was an option all on it's own.

I still want to go on the trip, I will just have to see what days will work and what jobs are going at the time.

yeah, but those stickers add at least 10 HP :D

As you know, there's one other significant add-on with the TRD package: an electronic rear locker. But those are easy enough to come by and swap in. Congrats on all accounts. Let's see some pics!

E lockers weren't offered in tundra trd's. Both of my other tundra's were trd and neither of them had the option, or button, or any hint of it. I've never found one with it.

ah, you never said it was a tundra. I assumed it was a tacoma. Now it makes sense why you'd say this truck is way too big.

Regarding a wheeling rig, what about this:

An old '87-94 4runner or pickup with a blown 3.0. Have Panos do a 3.4L swap (or a 4.0 or 4.7 swap) and throw a locker and 33's on it and wheel it. Or, if you're really on a budget, get an old beater with a 22re, throw a detroit in the back, add dual cases and see how many places you can go on 31s. Tyler had an old 3rd gen with 4.7 gears and a lockrite in the rear and that thing went EVERYWHERE.

good call opting out of the TRD package. Are you thinking about a lift or leveling kit? Or keeping it stock with bigger tires?

I was just planning on doing a level lift with 33's. OME doesn't make a kit for them and i dont want to use any of the other companies for a lift. Bilstein has some adjustable buckets and there are some 7/8" blocks to help it match up good. We'll see what i do. I'm not sure I could fit 33's without rubbing with no lift.

I'll get some pics up later tonight hopefully. I ordered up a set of 285 75 16 km2's today. Then I was going to order the same wheels I had on my 4 door taco. Before I called I looked on ksl just because. The same set I was going to buy brand new were for sale, 3 months old, with some brand new 285 75 16 Yokohama geolander I/t tires. They look like they'd be good in ice and sand. Deep treads though, 17/21". I scored! I got the wheels and tires for less than the wheels alone. I will try the tires out. If I don't like them I'll put the km2's on.

I also went and got keyless entry and remote start installed today for the cold winter and hot summer days. I'll get the tires and wheels on tomorrow. If they rub then I'll go pick up lift parts from low range.

Maybe I'll start a build thread.

I LOVED that thing! I couldn't believe how far the 4.7's and lockright would take that truck on 31's!

I know. I think everyone should own one. Super cheap, awesome MPG, dead realiable, and super capable. If I saw that thing for sale I'd have a tough time passing it up.

I am looking for some sort of a 4 runner. I like the first gens but it's hard finding a 22re with a solid axle since you've only got one year to choose from. I would get a stock one and wheel it with a few mods til my wallet grew. My money tree in the back yard is starting to wilt because it is fall.
