well once they inspect it all you have to fix is the things they list i'm suprised they didn't say anything about a license plate light, rear side reflector/light, and reverse lights but other than that you look legal
Well now that you mention int.......
Here is where it gets totally bizzarre
I took the jeep into work today to have it re-inspected. In the morning, one of our associates drove it over to the inspection station, and it passes. I think all is well and good.
Wrong!
At around 3PM two highway patrol officers stop in and want to speak to the service manager. I inform them that I am the manager and they proceed to ask why this jeep was taken to an outside vendor for safety inspection when we have licensed inspectors. At this time they did not know the jeep was mine (jenn's). I informed them that it was my jeep and that we do not perform EMI&safety on vehicles that the company does not own. We send all customers and associates vehicles off lot to prevent any conflict of interest issues. They did not seem to understand that concept, and asked me to come outside and look at the vehicle. We go outside. I said this is my 2nd attempt at making it compliant as per the inspectors notes. They said it still needed reverse lights, rear reflectors and the rear bumper wasn't wide enough. They said it should not have passed and I needed to give them my safety certificate back. I gave it back, but they kept probing and insinuating that I intentionally sent my vehicle to this particular shop to have it passed and I really know what state law is. I informed them that I did not know if it passed or not and thats why I paid to have someone inspect it that does know. I also said If the shop should have failed it, then it is on them. I don't have any ties to this inspection shop, it wasn't my car, this was the first safety we have done in UT since it was lifted ETC. He didn't like that answer. They wrote up some safety revocation form and asked for my license. I still have a Texas license and they asked how long I have been in Utah. I told them I had been here for a while, but I have a residence in TX. They let me know that I need to change my license if I reside here. Okay, I understand that, and I'll get it changed. No tickets or any citations were issued and we went on our separate ways.
Later on, I find out that the HP officers seek out my boss to inform him that I lacked integrity and they just thought he should know. WHAT IS THAT??????
Needles to say I am totally frustrated how they handled the situation. They seemed to have their minds made up that I was scamming the system by sending inspections out to another company. When nothing panned out for them, they pull this with my employer. Totally inappropriate.
rant/off
