Well, I took Jenn's jeep to have it inspected this week. I made no attempts to make it compliant in order to just see what they'd fail it for. They failed it for the following:

A.flares
B.mudflaps
C.bumper OD too small & above front tires

The kicker is I forgot to put the front wipers on, and they were just lying in the back seat. They never said a word:rofl:

I have 15 days to resubmit for approval. Jesser04 let me borrow some wheels and I picked up some ghetto mudflaps. The last thing is the bumper. I threw her bumper away and now I have to find one.

anyone have a stock wrangler front bumper?

Thanks Meat! I'll swing by and pick that up after work early this week.

Well, I installed the wheels and mudflaps and removed the front bumper today. I also took a few snaps to get some feedback on compliance. Any advice is much appreciated.

Bring on teh sexy.........

If I install the stock front bumper, will it pass? Or is it too high?

IMG_0326.jpg

Does it need mudflaps on the front?

Flaps cover 50%?

I think you've got everything suspension & tire wise after you get the front bumper on.
They might ask you about a reverse light, unless you do have one on there.

back when I was certified, the reverse lights just couldn't stay on, they didn't have to even work.

well once they inspect it all you have to fix is the things they list i'm suprised they didn't say anything about a license plate light, rear side reflector/light, and reverse lights but other than that you look legal

Cool, thanks for the heads up guys.

I was surprised about the reverse lights as well, but I'm not going to say anything-_-

Utah laws are something else. I was getting my truck inspected in Texas, and I asked the tech if it passed. He replied, "you drove it in here, didn't ya". I said "sounds good to me", and off I went:rofl:

That is a sweet lookin ride for sure. Good thing you gave them all the big stuff to write you up the first time, so the other minor stuff wasn't a factor.

Should be fine now. It would have been done already if you had come down here the first time you talked about it ;)

Well now that you mention int.......

Here is where it gets totally bizzarre

I took the jeep into work today to have it re-inspected. In the morning, one of our associates drove it over to the inspection station, and it passes. I think all is well and good. Wrong!

At around 3PM two highway patrol officers stop in and want to speak to the service manager. I inform them that I am the manager and they proceed to ask why this jeep was taken to an outside vendor for safety inspection when we have licensed inspectors. At this time they did not know the jeep was mine (jenn's). I informed them that it was my jeep and that we do not perform EMI&safety on vehicles that the company does not own. We send all customers and associates vehicles off lot to prevent any conflict of interest issues. They did not seem to understand that concept, and asked me to come outside and look at the vehicle. We go outside. I said this is my 2nd attempt at making it compliant as per the inspectors notes. They said it still needed reverse lights, rear reflectors and the rear bumper wasn't wide enough. They said it should not have passed and I needed to give them my safety certificate back. I gave it back, but they kept probing and insinuating that I intentionally sent my vehicle to this particular shop to have it passed and I really know what state law is. I informed them that I did not know if it passed or not and thats why I paid to have someone inspect it that does know. I also said If the shop should have failed it, then it is on them. I don't have any ties to this inspection shop, it wasn't my car, this was the first safety we have done in UT since it was lifted ETC. He didn't like that answer. They wrote up some safety revocation form and asked for my license. I still have a Texas license and they asked how long I have been in Utah. I told them I had been here for a while, but I have a residence in TX. They let me know that I need to change my license if I reside here. Okay, I understand that, and I'll get it changed. No tickets or any citations were issued and we went on our separate ways.

Later on, I find out that the HP officers seek out my boss to inform him that I lacked integrity and they just thought he should know. WHAT IS THAT??????

Needles to say I am totally frustrated how they handled the situation. They seemed to have their minds made up that I was scamming the system by sending inspections out to another company. When nothing panned out for them, they pull this with my employer. Totally inappropriate.

rant/off

Wow, that's totally uncalled for. Sorry to hear about all the added BS. UHP can be a massive pain in the ass, been there. I'm very happy I don't have to deal with Insp/Emissions anymore, sorry you do.

Thanks.

You know, it is what it is. If the jeep needs to be fixed so she can drive it without looking over her shoulder, fine. But, I believe they were way out of line going to the GM. Not because I have anything to hide or any potential implications to our company. They just had no reason to defile my character based on a five minute conversation in a parking lot.

Oddly, I am the consumer who is out the money for the inspection and dealing with their stations issues:-\

That is bullshit. Did you get their names? They have no right speaking to your employer / manager about your "integrity" either.

Power tripping pricks.

Just seemed like they were trying to prove a point. Not sure they knew what it was though..........

That can't be the premier job in law enforcement either.

call up the UHP and ask for the IA department and let them know what went down and they will investigate the situation and do what they think is best (most time just a talking to the officer) but at least it shows that officer that he is being watched and that people are not going to put up with his attitude.

Sue being a dispatcher for one of the local agencies get these calls all the time and the IA department does take them seriously.
