You can upgrade the heck out of an H2 also. The locker is sweet, and that subwoofer button...well that is totally awesome! I like toyota products, but I also like GM products. Having driven both on road only, visibility is bad on both.

I don't like H2's because:

1. they are excessively large for what they are. As compared to the H1, which is as large as it is because function dictates its size, the H2 is just BIG. Opening the door, I noted excessive space between the frame and the seat... but this is a trait shared with many of the H2's contemporaries-- the new-for-99 Stupi.. err SuperDuty, the 99+ Silverados, etc, share the same issue.
2. I dont' like the little windows. When I sat in the excessively-high driver's seat, I felt like I couldn't see a damn thing around me, for the size of the vehicle. I don't like that feeling. I'm used to driving pre-91 fullsize Chevy trucks and big vans, so I do have some qualification to that opinion. :D
3. Drivetrain did not visually differ much from standard truck offerings, including the lame IFS ground clearance.

4. I did like the stock 315's that came on the one I was looking at.

Not to get off the H2 kick, I thought this was cool. http://pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=759279 Somthing different anyway. It's too bad GM took so long to figure out torsion bars are junk if they had rack and pinion and coilovers the IFS wouldn't be too bad... The rear visability really sucks in the H3's but then again so does my Toyota with a shell packed full of gear :-\

EDIT: Oh and if that pic of the H2 really is on the Moab Rim trail that would bring a whole new meaning to "Pucker Factor" WOW!:ugh:

It's sad also to see all the hate. Hate the vehicle... you have no idea what the owner does with it, just like every suburban and cummins ram you see in a mall parking lot, you don't know what they do. I think Rugged's H2 and H3 probably show some battle scars, but hauling around four kids and a wife with a boat on the back isn't going to leave a scratch.

Agree 100%. This anti-Hummer/Hummer owner thread piggybacks perfectly onto last months Rubicon rants.

I would strongly suggest that most of the folks here who "hate" Hummer owners attitudes have met few of them. I think there are probably jerks in every brand and model!

To assult the words of Martin Luther King, Jr 'I have a dream...that someday may children will be judged by the content of their character, not the brand of their car'. :-\

Would I buy an H-2? No. H-1? I'd take one as a gift. H-3s are actually kind of cool, but turned off by the poor visibility.

However, I think we should all feel a loss for any company that even tries to make an off-road capable vehicle. Too few do.

I think the Jeep elitest sh!t that is being thrown around here is a joke.. Maybe more so a joke than the styling of the H2 & H3?

I like the H1.. Been drooling over it since I was a little kid in the sandbox. They are a symbol in a way of the front line of US defense, since that's what you see in the media and movies.. They're ugly, but mean as hell..

There are too many ignorant comments in this thread to begin shaking a stick at.. Who gives a damn what someone drives.. Go wheel.. GO explore something.. Go find something that you haven't seen before.. Opinions are ok to throw down, but when you speak as though you know for a fact your rig is better than another, I claim you're a asshat.

It's not about tire size, or cup holders..

Aside from the 'Jeep Elitist' attitude and condisending coments, I think that you Rugged H2 also enjoy the rise out of people. You've started threads that moved in similar directions. Have you ruffed enough feathers yet?

The Jeep Elitists, one or two in this thread, will keep it coming i'm sure.

FWIW.. I've never owned a Jeep, and yes I own a 99 4runner.. But i also roll an 06 Xterra. I got nothin to prove b!tches :)

Edit.. from your Member's Rig thread i wrote..

I think that folks in the 4x4 community might feel that those who buy a HUMMER H2 are pompus assholes, who think that by simply owning the vehicle they are superior to all other vehicles with 4 wheel drive. That's a generalization of course, but it happens.

I will say that there are alot of those types of H2 owners out there.. Hell i saw an H2 3-4 years ago on Hell's Revenge with something like 28" rims.. how lame is that.. That's an insult to any self respecting 4x4 enthusiast out on a trail.. Don't bring your McDonald's burger into Carver's kind of a thing...

Anyways.. I think that you are the exception the 'average' H2 owner. I think that's awesome that you get out and wheel, explore, and get to carry a gun for a living.

Concerning the comment about "not generally liking the drivers of hummers, as they think they come off better than everyone else."

#1 there is one h2 owner who I know and he is very humble and always willing to help you out if you need something, (he has a new challenger too
#2 there is one h2 owner I knew who wasa complete d*****bag and does feel like he is better than everyone (couldn't afford the gas, now he drives a bmw lol)
And finally, #3.. Gotta remember, there are some D*****bags who own Jeeps/Toyotas too that feel like they are better than everyone...

So I just feel like your comment is unjustifyable.. you just must have had bad experiences with bad owners...

And fwiw, here was the ad that was on my page when I was typing this lol.. I guess hummers are just NeedFulToyz

The most brand elitist person on this board taking shot at "jeep" elitism? Now that's funny. :)

I have no brand elitism. I may be a model snob, but I'm not a brand snob. Except that I hate Sami's, but that's more for comedic effect than anything. In fact, I generally hate "toyota people" not for their vehicles but because of their rediculous brand elitism. I have no problem with people running with they have, but there are usually reasons most stereotypes exist ;)

-_-

In regards to the video, it would have taken him 12 seconds instead of 33 seconds to climb that if he didn't weigh 10k lbs.

What did you do for Chevy?

Because you quoted...... ask men

Then you posted the Sierra Club's personal hate site FUH2?

Black ZJ if it wasn't funny it would be insulting. I contribute to U4WDA, Blue ribbon, USA-ALL and a couple others.

I have sent in pictures of my own rig 3 times. If those clowns hate my truck this much......... It makes me happy.

I got the point long before your links and yes I think I can follow you.

I realize that the H2 makes haters among 4x4 drivers. I haven't insulted anyone else's rig here but have "listened" to plenty of misinformed BS. Most of it media driven.

I still haven't heard a legitimate reason to hate on another guys rig.

Jealous Much?

Jealous of what guy? I do all my own work with a paralyzed left hand and a fused vertebrae in my back, which by the way happened while protecting your freedom to buy such a large and useless piece of steel! I paid cash for every single part I have installed on my Jeep and haven't even used a credit card in over 6 years. Not to mention I paid cash for my 2 MX5's in the garage and am about to buy a Lotus later this year. One of the Mazdas has enough money under the hood to buy my Jeep twice, go figure.

Here is what I think happened, you bought your H2 thinking they were "cool", just to find out they really were not. So then you decided that lifting it and throwing money at it would make it "cool" again, but hasn't completely netted you the effect you were hoping for.

As for your question as to wheeling with Hummers, yes I have. A buddy of mine when I lived in Colorado had an H1 and we would hit some trails when time allowed. He is a paraplegic with some awesome driving skills. He was hurt while protecting your freedom as well.

So next time you think you are better than someone and say "jealous much", maybe you should just leave your foot where it's at.... And assuming you were actually in the Marines (which being in Utah makes me wonder), you should know how to control your ego and attitude. Maybe some food for thought there guy!

If someone takes a hummer on the trail and wheels it (hard or easy) without looking down on everyone, tearing up the land, or plugging up the trail, they are awesome in my book. Same with everyone else who wheels any kind of vehicle.
If you're cool, I might not be impressed with your truck; I might even think its gay, but I'll be your friend. Who cares what I think of your truck anyway? I'm have an extreme case of what Cody calls "ridiculous brand elitism" (and even I think my obsession is overboard), so I really couldn't care less about anything other than a Toyota (or Toyotas with non-toyota axles or drivetrain ;)). But I won't treat a non-toyota driver any different. Thats just stupid.

Also:
GM didn't make the hummer to be awesome offroad. They made it to sell. A bunch of people bought it so mission accomplished. It seems like so many on here expect the hummer, and every other 4wd vehicle ever made for that matter, to be something it isn't right from the factory. When its not, they piss on it.

FWIW, I am sorry to see HUMMER go, they have been a huge supporter of Treadlightly (perhaps an effort to un-tarnish their reputation) and I really liked the new pickup. This coming from an "elitist Jeep snob".

I wish that H3 pickup was just slighly smaller--like the previous gen tacoma size. That thing would be bad ass if it weren't so big and long.
