It is the middle of wood cutting season up there, we seen many many trailers full of wood and people cutting everywhere. The good news is that there is limbs everywhere (4 inch) from people cutting. A buddy of mine had a chainsaw, we just cut and split all we needed in 20 minutes. FWIW.

that'd be cool if you could meet up with us MW.

What are the plans in the day? hiking? can you shoot up there?

We don't have any specific plans right now but I am trying to get my people to try to camp up with you guys. I know that one guy has a code to get up Weber canyon and then go up and over that. I hope then we may be able to drive over and meet you on Sat. or Sun. I hope we don't miss you while you are out on the trail. We will be hiking and taking some back roads. One guy with us use to be a guide so he has some plans.

Dang, sorry to hear that Dave. Good luck with Diesel. My mom's dog at potpouri and it jacked him up for a few days. I know it's only a matter of time before my dog eats something harmful.

is anyone planning on fishing up there? I'm not a good fisherman, but I'd like get into it more, especially fly fishing. Are there any fish to catch? Any cool slot canyons or waterfalls or anything like that to hike up there?

Well unfortunately we are not going to make it, Diesel (my dog) ate something and he is at the vet now and may have to have surgery. Very sad

Thats too bad to hear. Hopefully everything works out! We'll catch you next time.

I wish I knew how too fish. I've never been, but I'd love to learn.

As for places to go, I figured Sunday we'd kinda poke around and find some stuff to explore.

I've caught about 20 fish with a regular rod and reel, but I suck at fly fishing. Maybe I'll bring my poles just in case.

I don't think we'll be able to convince Joseph to eat meat (especially if it's fish), but I do think we could teach Stephen and his wife to fish. I'll need to run to cabellas and get my fishing license today.

If you bring gear, there are lots of fish to be caught.I'll bring a couple of my fly rods, for those who would like to learn.I usually catch and release anyway.

I would LOVE to learn. I've got my own fly rod, and I've been out about 3 or 4 times, but I've never caught anything with a fly rod. It's probably because I've never been taught properly, and I just end up whipping my flies off the end.

Oh, and as embarassing as it is, I have a phobia of touching live fish. I'm working on this, and I'd like to overcome it. But I still enjoy fishing, I just have to have someone else take the fish off the hook for me. I think my phobia started when I was a kid and I saw my dad get his hand sliced open by a bluegill. It kinda traumatized me.

Man, for someone who works with his hands a lot I'm a bit surprised by this! Time to MAN up and handle those fish!!

I think it's their beady little eyes staring at me while I try to get the hook out. I'll work on it.

I can clean and gut a fish no problem, but when they're alive I don't like to touch them. I know it's irrational, but it's there.
