LT, thank you and i wholeheartedly agree with you.
GIJohn, i've known you since 02 and you are great american.
My message to those who ***** about America, go somewhere else to see what it's like. I've been to a lot of other countries and NO PLACE is as great as this nation! Period.

the whole point I am trying to make is I dont want this country to end up like all the others

I think we all agree on that this too... But the Dem's arguement is the companies that made some of these same decisions too (AIG has their own f-ing golf course for example, they were about to take a 100-top-execs hunting trip to Scotland for christs-sake - after the bauilout!) has now received about $175BILLION dollars. That is more than the Iraq war for an entire year. Even worse is they had the data. Each of these companies has a department called Risk Analysis (a good friend is a VP for Risk Analysis for Citigroup). After each of these transactions Risk Anaysis issues a report on how risky the investment was. In some cases the investors would cook the books or they flat out ignored it. Hyped up by the weak legs the economy has had since 9-11 (the goal of hitting the "World Trade Center" was to effect exactly that). So anyway, while Main Street is failing, most of these guys are making millions and millions. "Golden Parachutes..." AIG keeps its golf course, but you and your kids can't keep your house. And finally these people are much more likely to immediately inject that cash right back into the economy. Groceries, Gas, Christmas Presents, whatever...

It's fair and makes sense in my opinion...

Ya they voted for the war before they voted against the war:rofl::cody:
J/K

There were a lot of mistakes made but I don’t feel our most pressing problems in this country is the war I think it is our values and the apparent lack of self responsibility and our willingness to want to bail everyone out.

It is the fast food companies making me fat
The mortgage company forced me to buy that 500K house instead of the 200K
The car companies made me buy brand new cars every year
I can’t afford health care but I drive 2 brand new vehicles live in a 5000 SQ Ft house
And so on

Agreed... But basically we/they trusted Bush. He was relatively new in office and at the time it was the right thing to do. Even the media mostly went for it unfortunately...

So are you saying that only Bush had access to the privy CIA intelligence on WMD? That the longtime Senators and Reps sitting on their respective intelligence committees didn't have access to that same information. Sure Bush packaged and presented it, but they had the same bad info. Your right he was new but there were 9 Dems and 8 Rep's on the Senate Committee on Intelligence that were not ;) Names like Graham, Finestein, and even our local boy Hatch.

> . Intelligence that EVERYONE believed said: WMD's.

That's actually not true at all...

Yeah, it actually is. Hillary Clinton, Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, and many more.

For example, the reason we "hate" France is because they were right the whole time, there were no WMD.

Actually, I hate France because they tried to block any action (even after 14 UN resolutions were ignored) because they were illegally trading with Iraq and had plans to develop Iraq's oil fields as soon as sanctions were lifted.

There's a lot of other resources out there besides Daily Kos and the Huffington Post. How many more years will Bush get the blame for everything?

Don't forget that France sold Iraq their first nuclear power plant that Israel blew up the first chance they got.

LT, great post, and thank you for your service. Even with our future president I see us as better off than any other country. The American people are resourceful and will be heard if push comes to shove.

As for Tacoma's avatar flag, it bothers me also.

I personally don't see it as a diss on the the US. There is a difference between saying something sucks and something needs to be fixed. I think its way more patriotic to state our views and try to fix whats wrong with our country than it is to rally blindly around a flag that is losing its meaning.

Well, I went ahead and changed it. The argument has been made, and opinions voiced.

I doubt my current one will arouse the same knee-jerk reaction, which says much.

That said, I'm not out to just piss people off, and I don't have any issues with anyone who didn't like it. And as we're not at a point where I need to ramrod the point down anyone's throat just yet, and in the interest of respect, my flag will wait in the folder. :D
