I'm certain Tacoma has some suitable junkyard-style axles laying around that can be used, and maybe even some leaf springs. The biggest expense here should be shocks, and possibly some replacement tie rod ends or something. And steel.

You're exactly right Carl. I only mention those items to discourage thoughts of regearing said axles. I believe the biggest expense will be alcohol, once you factor the time required for this build.

And shocks are over rated. Junkyard shocks will be enough performance here.

Love this thread and subscribed. Lots of good suggestions already. For my $.02, I'd say link the rear and leaf the front. You'll do away axle wrap much more efficiently, and you're half way there with a anti wrap anyway. Your time frame is ambitious to say the least but it will be fun to watch. Good luck.

Now virtual truggys, they can be cheap. I like where your trying to go though. I think you can have fun in a low dollar rig just as easy as a high dollar one.

I think the 2.72:1 t-case and 5.29 axles will suffice to get me into places I'll cry to be in. I do have some springs, and they're practically free in junkyards anyway...

Gabriels are like $20 a piece and held the Blazer of DOOM up pretty well.
