If you want cheap, use that '93 S10, chuck some cheap axles under both ends, and be done. Use it until it's used up, then sell it for more than your current asking price. :)

S-10 is a good base for your idea, nice sturdy frame. Maybe add a Box For Rox and a D300 and not worry about regearing the axles. Sawzall body for tire fitment.

No Box For Rox or D300...both of those options cost anything, and can be added later. Let the "might as well" stuff happen after this virtual rig is driving around. ;)

I'm certain Tacoma has some suitable junkyard-style axles laying around that can be used, and maybe even some leaf springs. The biggest expense here should be shocks, and possibly some replacement tie rod ends or something. And steel.

You're exactly right Carl. I only mention those items to discourage thoughts of regearing said axles. I believe the biggest expense will be alcohol, once you factor the time required for this build.

And shocks are over rated. Junkyard shocks will be enough performance here.

Yep Taco may finally empty his garage of all the crap he has in there and turn it into a moving pile of junk :)

Love this thread and subscribed. Lots of good suggestions already. For my $.02, I'd say link the rear and leaf the front. You'll do away axle wrap much more efficiently, and you're half way there with a anti wrap anyway. Your time frame is ambitious to say the least but it will be fun to watch. Good luck.

My Cruiser was linked in back and leafed up front for a very long time. Rig was very stable. What ever you do remember, I have a sawzall and a plasma cutter and a trigger finger... Lets do some cuttin!

You need to get away from the morbidly obese rigs. I too had plans for that S10 :D

Cheap...........................Buggy??????????????? No such thing!!!! Sounds more truggy to me. Hell, I don't even know if truggy and cheap can be in the same sentence! Now virtual truggys, they can be cheap. I like where your trying to go though. I think you can have fun in a low dollar rig just as easy as a high dollar one.

hahah I just sent Bart a PM and said the biggest expense should be tube and the beer it'll take to get Shawn to weld it up.. :D

this will be a fun project. :D I'm not sure I can get it done by EJS but I'll put a dent in it.

I think the 2.72:1 t-case and 5.29 axles will suffice to get me into places I'll cry to be in. :D I do have some springs, and they're practically free in junkyards anyway...

Gabriels are like $20 a piece and held the Blazer of DOOM up pretty well. :D
