Pritchett Canyon....

I run a group of about 12 grand cherokees through there every year with Grand Slam West (sissy Grand Cherokee exclusive run I help organize). I require 33's and f/r lockers to be on the trail (for time sake) but the only parts that give trouble 'usuall' are Rock Pile (obviously) and the hill just before it which has become very eroded over the last few years (mostly because asshats that don't belong kept dropping down into the wash and driving up and over the berm that gave a better line to the hill.....but I digress).

We ran it last year right after a storm and the trail deffinately had some more interesting spots, but over the last 8 years that I've been running it I've seen spots become easier and more difficult from year to year. I've probably run that trail 70 times by now. It's pretty dynamic and I welcome more difficulty. I personally think that grading the entrance may have solved the wilderness boundery issue, but created other problems further down where people get stuck on terrain that they aren't prepared for or experienced enough to deal with.

Brett, you could get through it with spotting and a couple rigs that can pull you over the difficult sections. I can get you up rocker knocker without a strap and I honestly don't think you'll touch your rockers (ZJ's on 33's don't hit too hard, and an XJ has better breakover). You'll probably take a strap a couple times, but just make sure you run it on a non-busy day so you don't hold anyone up.

Well, then April or something we should go do it:eek:

Sounds like an RME Meet and Greet in April on Prichett to watch Cody spot Brett up RK.

If he had 2 lockers I think he could do it, but with one locker, I'd be surprised, but I've been surprised before.

Don't forget I've got BFG AT's on it too.

I could probably slam a lunch box into the front :brett:

I've had ZJ's and WJ's get up with 33's and open front. I've also had a few not get up with the same setup. Just depends on how much sand is on the ledges, and the driver. Sometimes that drivers front tire gets wedged pretty good in the hole and if it's smaller than 35" all you can really do is stack some rocks in there and pull cable.

107 wb, 35" tires, and 2 lockers seems to be the ticket as any ZJ or WJ with at least that setup never has a problem.

at least on rocker knocker that is. I've only been party to 1 full bodied ZJ and 1 WJ driving rock pile. Mike Demarco (kidkrawler on here) did it in his ZJ on 37's and Mike Lib did it in his WJ on 35's. Mike Lib sucked his front end down pretty good though to make it happen.

this sounds like fun. me and a group are going down in the first part of june and we plan on running this trail. we've never done it before, but do have experience. we all have lockers 33's or 35's and don't have a problem using a winch. this thread has got me even more excited to do the trail.

any pointers from the seasoned pritchett runners?

The first time I ran Pritchett I was wondering if I belonged on the trail as I unloaded the K5. After all the "oooh Pritchett is so hard" stuff that everyone always spouts, I was rather under whelmed with Pritchett. It's an awesome canyon, and a fun trail but it isn't super hard scary crazy. It's getting harder? Good.

RR4W are calling

If you're not to proud to hook up a strap over 3 spots you might be okay. Your rockers will take a beating. Don't even try Rocker Knocker or the Rock Pile (or bypass) and I'd think twice about the hill before the Rock Pile.
that "Axle Hill"
Now there is a hill climb before rocker knocker that is real hard and scary. It reminds me very much of potato salad hill. While i made it up, it was a white knuckle affair. i watched a buggy come after me that got off the trail and was stuck, nearly rolling over....
and that "Chewy"

that is kinda the same feeling/replies we have gotten from other people, but in reading the new moab book by Charles wells, it can't be totally impassable since he is running 3 inches of lift and 33 inch bfg a/t's. we also got the same response to moab rim, but that isn't bad if you can find the right line. i guess you could say that the spotter is everything.

Harder is better, I agree. But there is one place? that the road is getting real narrow with a wall on one side and a drop on the other. In time, this will become impassible - of course, in my opinion.

We ran it otnight. let's see what they think... I know when we got to the new, off camber obstacle they had mentinoed it was eroded...

If we could all only be like you

I've been wheeling over 20 years and anyone that tells me Pritchett doesn't get their adrenaline up is full of it:D
