Have you been driving your truck around much??

I haven't driven it since AF Canyon a few weeks ago. I just wanted to prove to myself that it could wheel by then. Plus, I didn't realize how many little things still had to be done.

I'm starting to knock them out one by one. Should be more street legal by the end of this week. I still need to re-mount the seats, do the sliders, mount seat belts, paint the interior, put the dash all back together, then take her out for some fun and break in those darn rear springs. I'm getting close though. I'm hoping to have a little exo by SW Crawlfest then I can play with the big boys.

It's been slow going over at my place. I've been sick this past week, and that's really slowed things down. I'm getting to spend a lot more time with my wife, which is always good, and this project is really starting to slow down.

Got some little things done.

Working on the rear bumper. Simple is best. This is my first bumper I've ever made. A take on my buddy Eric's bumper.

Then I added brackets for the quick disconnect mudflaps. When I clearanced this much of the rear, I'm asking for a ticket even with mudflaps. These mudflaps will be big enough for the cops to know I'm trying, and hopefully keep them at bay.

And that's it for tonight. Hope to get the rubber mounted tomorrow, get the rear bumper painted, and get the rear shock hoops on, then put the bed back on for the last time.

I'm a little worried that the mudflaps will get too close to the tire and get sucked up into the fender, but I have a plan to remedy it if it ever gets that bad.

A peice of cable from the bottom of the flap to the back of the bumper, keeping them from moving forward at all. Then you can rig the cable up to pull them out of the way of rocks and such too.

Its coming along nicely, can't believe how much you've knocked out so quick!

Thanks Kurt, that's a great idea.

are you going to make any recovery points on the Bumper?

I don't know how to make recovery points, so not for now. I may figure something out in the future, but I'm pretty clueless when it comes to recovery points and how to make them strong and safe enough.

I'm afraid to just weld a big eyelet on there, only to have it yank out and kill someone. I can get a recovery strap on the bumper in quite a few places as it is, so I'll probably use it as it is 'till I figure out how to safetly and strongly incorporate recovery points.

that's about as simple as it gets. I've already got some 30k shackles.

Eric, I'll take you up on your offer to weld up my clevis things. If it's as simple as that, I'm all over it.
