The upcoming moto ride/quick report.

I have been with several riders who flat give up on the switchbacks when going from North Ogden Pass to Mantua.

:raises hand: :D Seriously, still to this day, those were the toughest switchbacks I've gone up. I think I could do them now, but that was one of my first rides (ever) and was also one of my first rides on my new to me CRF450X. I'm glad your buddy was running low on fuel as I was dead :p

Ok, so it looks like the trail in this discussion is not the same one (or at least not the same segment) that I was thinking it was. Anyone looking for a challenge, go ride the back side of Ben Lomond :D

Here's a track you can use to ride a nice big loop starting at the Pineview dam.

Perhaps I'll leave this trail for when I get better at riding. I had enough trouble on that hill climb into hobble creek, though I did concur it on my yz. I enjoy technical stuff but not as much as the more flowy trials.

The climb in to Hobble Creek is actually one of the tougher ones due to being so long, loose dirt, badly placed boulders, and sharp uphill turns. But I must be becoming a better rider. I went up it 3 times this weekend. Each time without issue. Not a stall, a dirt nap, a tree or anything. The first time I went up I was actually just going to see how the trail conditions were going to be for the next morning because it had rained. I had just putted up there from our camp site in shorts, a t shirt, and sandals. No helmet, gloves, boots, goggles or any other gear. I got so excited once I hit dirt that I kept going all the way to 13 without incident. I love the climb in now!

Harrison loves that climb almost as much as the climb out of Saw Mill campground. He tipped over twice going up Hobble Creek but I think he could do it without crashing if he did it again. Saw Mill was not much of a challenge for him. I have yet to take him to the switch backs on Ben Lomond. My riding gang are hitting AF tomorrow morning and Harrison is going with them because one of our friends leads the gang of old farts and he has a son that Harrison is friends with. He also rides a CRF150RB with a bigger tank and Rekluse. I have to stay back because I havent been in the office for two weeks and I will be gone next week as well so I have to get some seat time in my office.

I am hoping to ride AF today sometime, however I am awaiting my street legal kit to be delivered and really want to get it installed today. Probably will not do anything hard if I make it up today as I just want to get a feel for the bike. However, I WILL be riding Saturday regardless and will ride AF again most likely.

Getting my kit took much longer then hoped but I got it all on. I will be going for a little ride up A tomorrow morning. I know it will probably be busy but I want to give it a shot anyway.

Going on a cool ride in an hour. 12th street Ogden to north ogden pass. Avon rd to Ben Lomond Peak.
Meeting at the Ogden 12th Street Dam at 7:45-8

Sounds like a nice long day of riding! Let us know how it goes.

Last night i rode up hobble creek with Jeeper and his 2 BILs. We headed up trail 12 then south on 13 to trail 6. I hit a rock wrong and it locked my bars causing me to high side and skid down the trail. I was so weak and dizzy I could hardly get out from under my bike! I got pretty banged up but luckily nothing was broken. My bike suffered bent bar clamps, bars, and my front brakes got damaged also. We decided to take the fastest way out and guessed that was to continue down 6 to cherry campground, we were SO wrong! Instead of being most of the way down 6 like we thought we were actually hours from the end! To make things worse as we neared the end of 6 it dropped off into the wrong canyon! The directions we were given weren't accurate, it didn't loop back, which meant we had to ride all the way back to where we started hours earlier. Bent bars and weak hands made for several more wrecks but we finally made it out safe after about 4 hours of riding crippled.

That's what you get for not inviting me when I know my way around hobble creek and diamond fork. ;)

JK. Feel better and get your bike fixed.

I would have invited you but I was tagging along with that group last minute.

I wish I would have had a guide with us! I didn't get home till 9:00 last night. We certainly did get in lots of seat time. The bike needs lots of TLC this may put me out of commission again for a few weeks
