I don't have to "think" anything. Your statements and actions make it pretty clear. All talk, no action. Call it apathy, laziness, or whatever. I call it the primary cause for the death of motorized recreation on public land.

Hey Steve, Cruiser, or whom ever? I have a question that I've asked several times on other online forums (SL Trib and alike) that I haven't been able to get answered. When the topic recently came up (once again) in the Trib I asked again and still haven't had it answered. (See page 3 on for my comments if you're interested http://www.sltrib.com/opinion/ci_10181887 as well as the RME post http://www.rockymountainextreme.com/showthread.php?t=57407 ). I ask it for a couple of reasons, 1. It seems to shut up all the self righteous enviro's, and 2. Because I really want to know and my question is this.

If they shut down millions of "wilderness" acres to motorized vehicles as SUWA is so actively persuing, how will our disabled friends and family ever be able to see these areas again? SUWA wants it to be accessed by foot traffic only (which is utterly proposterous...who is ever going to able to walk through millions of acres on foot?) which will eliminate any physically challenged person out there, disabled or not. From your experience in attending the meetings at the level that you have, has there been a strong representation by the ADA or other disability advocacy agencies? It seems that they would be a really strong alliance with our cause. The friend of mine that I referenced in the trib posting that will need heat and cooling availability at all times just to maintain body temp is our friend Brandon Gillen (SukaB). I am sure he would like to get back out there ASAP, but it may be never realized if the enviro's get their way. Scary!

Thanks.

I'll call out SRN also. Total bullshit. Great guy, knowledgeable guy, but complete lack of follow through. SRN, more than almost anyone, knows the goals and message of U4WDA. To say that you couldn't be an effective PR guy because someone didn't write it all out for you is bullshit.

Steve, you are right. Its actually nice to hear it (or see it). I took on a responsibility knowing full well that I had too many other commitments to put my full weight behind U4. I can't apologize, I wish I could, but I can't because it would be in vain.

. Feel free to post your witty comeback, but consider what's being said.

All I said was that I respected your efforts and contributions, but thought that a different approach with the same effort behind it could yield better results from a broader audience. It's like arguing with a 12 year old sometimes.

Out of curiosity, how does it feel that the 17 year old f-ups that this thread is about, are able to swallow their pride and take some criticism in stride, yet you with all of your infinite wisdom and experience can not?

Was that witty, or just too much reality? Consider that ;)

If you're looking for answers or even reasonable conversation, the SL Trib comments forum is not the place. The anti-access forces there aren't interested in discussion, only rhetoric.

The ADA avenue has been investigated and deemed unusable. I don't recall the exact legal reasoning (perhaps someone else will chime in with more specifics), but I recall that it has something to do with how the ADA is intended to target improved structures not necessarily all public property.

Richard Beardall is a disabled person in southern Utah who started a group called Americans with Disabilities Access Alliance. He attempted to get a ticket riding on a closed BLM road in the San Rafael Swell in order to fight it in court. I never heard about it after the ride, so I'm guessing it didn't go anywhere. I'd be interested in hearing an update if there is one.

Simplify much for your own justification?

I know the feeling.

You are by far the wittiest, and you made my point for me. Thanks!

Well... it would appear that Steve's personal style rubs some the wrong way. Perhaps that puts it mildly. Apart from that? Not much disharmony.

Regardless, we could ALL do more.

We all can do more....agreed. ****, I can't afford to venture out of the valley for the rest of the year. But I can at least be positive, which I'm not seeing here. Lost Boys made up for their mishap, done.

Course, now we have ton's of internal **** going on. No one like's anyone else. Good. Wow, shut the **** up and act like adults, it's not that hard.

PS, where's my issue ;)

AllTerrain,

I was one of those cruisers up there yesterday...Were you driving the Jeep? It was good chatting with you guys and learning a bit more about the area.

That was my first run up to Forrest Lake and I thought its a fun little trail.

Yes that was me. Which one were you? Sorry, I only met a couple of you as my boy was caught up in catching salamanders at the lake. :D

I LOVE that movie!!

Back to the topic of this thread, I am very glad to see these kids taking some responsibility. It seems very few people are willing to step up and admit when they are wrong and then try and make amends. These boys have and it's refreshing to see. Everyone makes mistakes. The real testament to someone's character are the moves they make after the mistake. :)
