Screwing the subfloor down. Apparently the glue they used on my joists isn't bonding well? I've put 400 screws in so far. Maybe another 100-125 to go? Doing the LVT areas first and moving to the carpeted areas.



Those nails look great! (Advice if you're building through the winter and your subfloor gets snow/rain. Spend $100 on screws before your flooring goes in.)

Been a busy bee on the house. Had @comingdown come over and help me replace the backdoor that was bad, and cut out and patched the subfloor that was rotted out from the years of the bad door. Ripped out the railings, and replaced the first stair nose that was cut out for the old railing. Then I screwed in all the other stairs as they would make noise when you walked up or down them. Got the floor stripped and began laying the LVP last Friday. After 3 rows I said eff it, and had the pros do it. Totally worth the $1000 to have them do it. He made sure my patches I had filled were all level, and was very meticulous.

Thursday they come to install new carpet in the rest of the house, so I will have the fun of moving everything to the main level and still try to live in the house for 2 days. Once they are all done with that, I will install the new baseboards on the main level. Then I will build some nice metal railings for the stairs.

Run screws then pound the sub floor nails flush.

Finished up the flooring and got all the interior doors hung.







Then went to replace a wavy piece of subfloor and found some water damage.









So I spent the day replacing 13 floor joists and the rim board.







Now on to getting it all covered back up.

No sprinklers here. You can kind of see it on the side of the house in the picture, but the house has a trim piece along the bottom kind of like a baseboard. There is no flashing on that trim and no rain gutters on the house so over the 25 years of rain/snow if any failure of the caulk isn't addressed promptly the water will hit that trim board and seep in instead of running away from the house. The rest of the house has a 4" trim piece and this spot had a 6" piece and when I pulled it off I could see the old caulk line from the 4" piece so the trim had definitely been rotted and been replaced some time back.

Got the carpet installed last night, the journey is almost over! I will be installing baseboards this next week, before I turn my attention to the SXS for the ROTR in a couple weeks. After the rally I will get the railings built and installed.

Loooove how the new flooring and carpet made our house feel like home, and feel like ours.

And this was a fireplace i redid winter last year. I have more build pics but this gives you the idea. Built all the bookcases and cabinets myself. We painted the rock originally but then still weren’t happy and ripped it out and redid it all.

I actually live in South Carolina now. The property is 1.1 acres surrounded on all sides by Caesar’s Head State Park. Half mile either direction gets me to a trail system that I could take to the coast or deeper in the mountains. Super great space.

No. I bought a kit from a company called Jamaica Cottage Shop.

Thanks, it was an added cost option but I knew they would be really good looking.
Because of that siding I did not use all the trim pieces that are included in the kit. This, I have a huge pile of “extra” lumber.

I've been doing a bunch of little stuff at the house that doesn't photograph well, like baseboards and door casings, painting trim, etc. But the granite finally showed up! (They have been telling us "2 more weeks" for the last 10 weeks).









And the carpet got installed yesterday!







One more week of pushing through all the little stuff and we are planning to move our stuff in from the storage unit on the 20th! It's been a long time coming!

I forgot to update the progress on my project. My part is fully finished now. Just waiting for the electrician to get over here and wire lights and outlets. For now the lift has ran off the 220v generator just fine. If I ever stop fuming from the lift install I’ll give you my thoughts on Atlas Lifts in the other thread. Anyways, it lifts the heaviest thing I think we'd ever want to lift, so that's great. The forklift weighs in at just under 11000 pounds according to its chart. Forklifts like this one are a pain to get under to service so this will come in quite handy. Come to think of it, who services their forklifts anyways?!?!?
