I'm king of not documenting things, but I'm trying to be better. I got an l96 back from the machine shop yesterday to go in a rig with a blown engine that ha been sitting since I went to Kuwait this time last year. Nothing fancy just a budget stock rebuild and get the extra vehicle sold as soon as it's back together (wife bought a replacement while I was gone). I had the machinist Maggie everything, check bores, hone cylinders, balance rotating assembly, install cam bearings and surface the heads and block. It was a fairly low mileage engine but disassembled when I had a buddy pick it up so I figured I'd have it gone thru to save me time.

I've had to jump around a little last night and tonight due to some competing obligations. I hate doing that and would prefer a solid day off assemvly but it is what it is. I manage to get the valves on one head lapped in and main bearings all plastigauged as of tonight.

Hopefully tomorrow once the kiddos are done Easter egg hunting I can spend the rest of the day in solitude and get everything buttoned together. Time is limited to get this buttoned up and the rig sold before my next government sponsored vacation sets me back into later this summer.

VSC is side curtain air bags. You can push the button to turn them off if you are off road so they don't deploy when you are tilted. I have had lots of strange issues with brake bleeding. I have had success with pulling the bleed screw from the rear and letting the entire line drain, then start from scratch. Wish I was more help.

Very minimal amount of dolla bills.... Just gotta know the right peeps.
It certainly cost someone a lot of dolla bills, just not you apparently. ;)

It's a reverser, right? So... Front output changes rotation at the reverser, goes through an upside down (?) diff, and changes direction again at the portals?

Exactly. Trying to eliminate torque twist, even though with portals it’s mostly non existent to begin with. Just trying to squeeze that last little bit out of the new car vs the old car.

Put new sprokets and chain on my bike. It's a bit interesting in 1st gear when you get on the throttle, the front tire lifts super easy. Went from 14x50 stock to a 13x52. Can't wait to go climb some stuff and see the difference off-road.

Little size difference.

Also bought some $4 pliers from Hazard Frought and turned them into some master link pliers. They worked really well for removing the clip on the master link.

That new sprocket is made by supersprox
They're in Ukraine. So you can feel good about that ;)

I wanted those but forgot to add them to my order, so I had to make my own.

Knowing my sproket was made in Ukraine takes some of the sting out of the price. Seems like a quality piece.

Finished buttoning up the 6.0L for the Yukon I started early last week. Due to some health issues I didn't touch it again from my last post until Saturday. I finished up the rotating assembly and timing chain with cam yesterday. Today I got all of the valves for other head lapped and both totally assembled.

Had a great time this evening getting the heads on and torqued down with my oldest son in the garage. It was a bit of fun seeing him try to torque down head bolts with how light he is, but he got them all down for all 3 stages. After that we threw the pushrods, rockers and valve covers on and called it a night.

As I was bagging the engine however I realized I never even checked the steam vents before bolting the heads down. DOH! Guess I'll be carefully removing those rivets and sourcing a 4 port vent setup or capping the rears off.
