My xj would vapor lock every time it shut off. I started wheeling with the hood popped open for air flow.
I’ve never had heat soak/vapor lock issues on mine but my friends with 98-99’s always did. It’s weird.

I decided it was time to use the balljoints I’ve had on my shelf for several years and stop livin’ that stance life.

Snowflake was cambered for the corners from years and years of abusing original ball joints.

Terrible before/after pic but oh well. It’s ridiculous how beat the ball joints were. The upper was popping up and down in the socket like a solid inch and the lower was as limp as it gets. Hopefully I can get the driver side done tomorrow as I have a few things to wrap up before Moab next weekend.

Got the bump seat mounted tonight. It’s actually pretty slick and makes a decent arm rest when she’s not in it. She was so excited that she had to come sit in it after she got out of the shower and it wasn’t even done, just tacked together lol

I still feel like this was a pretty killer investment for less than $100, especially since it came with the harness. It looks like it was barely even used.

Finally got around to installing this PSC power steering pump and cooler that I picked up off of Marketplace a few months ago. I can definitely tell the difference turning my 39’s in the driveway. I’ll see how it is on our HITR trip with the front end locked and make a decision on whether to complete it with their box and assist ram.

Almost finished repairing the passenger side motor mount. The batteries in my welding hood ran out and there isn’t enough room under there to go to the old school hood.

The engine block mount was wallowed out, so I made a weld washer to fix that.

The bushing was severely worn. It practically fell out.

Here you can see the cracks where the mount meets the frame material. Box frame is only 1/8”.

I made another support plate from 3/16” box tube to support the frame wall. I have a couple more welds left. IMG_8672.jpegIMG_8668.jpeg

The booger weld isn’t mine, but I’ve since ground it off to reweld it. The previous owner did a great job building this buggy over 12 years ago, but his welding was not as good as my expectations.
