Yesterday the thought crossed my mind that the built-in tailgate step and bumper step on a pick up bed might actually be nice to have. 😳

I went to jump out of the bed of my truck onto the sidewalk while I was in Moab last weekend. It’s something I’ve done countless times but this time my foot caught on something and I dragged my shin over the bedside and launched myself towards the ground face first, breaking the fall with my hands and shoulder. I thought I was going to be dead because of my advanced age but I walked away uninjured. I guess what I’m saying is your stupid tailgate step can suck it, my antics are keeping me young 🤣

My thoughts came as I stepped off the flatbed in wet shoes onto my wet ball hitch. It’s a pretty good drop down, and a full commitment to step down that way. I’ve always done it, but each time I do I feel my luck running out. One of these days I’m going to miss or slip and go face down like you did.

But it doesn’t keep me going like it does you. I take a week just to recover from stupid stuff like twisting a door knob the wrong direction.
