well, no, but the rest of the fighting over ring and pinion. I never did understand your post on that...???

I ment that you seemed to be acting like an ass to the people trying to help you .... I just went back and re-read your post (#22) and I guess you weren't ripping on everyone as bad as it seemed at the time :-\ . As for the rest of the thread, granted I skimmed a lot of it, but I didn't really notice anyone fighting.

There is one fact that has been missed here...............WE ALL DON'T HAVE TO LIKE EACH OTHER.

different views is what keeps life interesting.

yes, but there are gray areas, and some people just take things wrong also. You as well as I know you can not sense emotion and fluctuations in people voices through a computer screen. :D

my problem with RME is i've never run a trail with any of you so i don't know who to take seriously and no one knows if they can take me seriously. Plus i never did an introduction so for all anyone knows i may not have a rig.

My names Dallin, I drive this

ya, you and I seem to be the only ones that get into trouble. I see many threads that have been taken farther than some of ours. Sorry James, I like to tease you.... :p

Just don't take it the wrong way ;)

For Mr. Meat

I suppose I was overly suprised when, to me, it seemed like there was some bashing about R&P and who was right on the 'best'. Being my first post on the board, other than to sell some crap, I was looking for some advice. My comment something to the effect of "Wow, a bunch of fun loving wheelers, (BS!)" was my suprise at how a simple advice/input question became what in my view, was people ripping on each other. I did, however, get the advice I was looking for, and actually had one of the people with advice do the work for me. Thanks Homer! The other forum I have been a member on didn't seem like the right place to ask as most vehicles there are not heavily modified, so I came here. I guess I have been spoiled with the friendly, fun-loving, wheel what you brought sort of attitude found on the pther site I have been on. Maybe we could just have a set thing that when someone posts something negative or challenging, we could respond with a "You are my hero" and leave it be. Just a thought...Naturally, people are going to be able to do more than others in regards to vehicle mods, but I tell you, I have had a hell of a fun time romping on my 4" lifted, 31" tired XJ through some of Moab's best, not knowing if I could make it or not....am I having more or less fun than the 'other' guy with 37" tires, lockers and 10K more in add-ons? Who knows...????????

you know i have had some good experiences with people from here. people that wheel are generally nice people.
james k (yeah i know he's a jerk ;) ) did some free welding for me and didn't even know me. we stood around and talked for quite awhile, he is a lot nicer in person :D and told me any time the garage is open i am welcome to stop in and chat.
i ran rusty nail at ejs with herzog and cody and they were not stuck-up buggy owners, they are nice, friendly, badass wheelers and i could joke around and chat with them right off the bat.
i've met a few people through selling/buying stuff and they have all been cool as hell too!
if any of the people i have met on here wanted to wheel or needed a favor or something i'd be there (as long as my schedule permitted)

I'M GOING TO LIL' MOAB TOMORROW AT LIKE 10 IF ANYONE WANTS TO JOIN. I DRIVE A HACKED UP XJ AND MY BRO HAS A NEAR STOCK BLUE SAMI. IF YOU COME OUT PLEASE COME TALK TO ME.

RME vibe

I just want to say that I think that this site is a good sit, and I want to thank Greg for putting a note one my tj while it was parked at the smiths parking lot about RME. I think that it has been a good site and when I sold some thing the guys were super cool and fun to talk to. I just wished I could drive my tj on the road but I think that is a little hard to do. Greg if you could only see my tj now. I thin that it would be a good time to do a trail run I went last summer on a trail run at rattle snake and constrictor and I had a blast. It was cool to see Bart climb the waterfall in his old buggie. I just think that the vib is good and the people here are cool. I just want to say thanks again Greg for the note.

Yes, thanks Greg, I would rather have the site, with it's idiosyncracies (sp?) than not. I have learned much from reading things here...

Greg, I don't think there is much you can do about things, but I don't think RME's image is that bad. It has also, sort of, become the defacto Utah land use board in addition to the regular offroad bb stuff. Plus, since Brandon was booted, I come back to RME twice as often.

I'll tell you some of the things that have irked me about RME in the past.

I first moved to Utah in '96. I instantly noticed a more prominant "cliquey" soicial culture. When I first visited RME it reminded me of the exact same thing. Now, this only applys to a very small number of members, but it is a very vocal few.

Sometimes it seems that these cliques are very friendly and open untill an "outsider" annoys them. One experience I had on RME involved a regular member selling a Dana 60. I asked some very general, basic questions as his original post had almost no information. He dodged the questions by simply replying "yep" or some half-wit responce like that. I directly asked the simple questions again, then the would-be seller flipped out, and told me run away and wouldn't answer them. I actually should thank the asshat, just a few months later I found a far better deal on a far better axle.

I've seen similar reactions to many other members in other posts.

One other thing, IMHO, RME is way over moderated, but that may be just me.

I think you are oversensitive. I for one, would complain if there were a bunch of XJ's in front of me on Rocker Knocker. I would also complain if there were a bunch of TJ's, Land Rovers, or Scouts. Nobody likes to wait for a big group.

Did you try to associate with those evil buggy guys? How did you know they were from RME?

I agree on this at some amount. But I dont think it is reason to complain, that was the position in line on the trail that you are running..It would just been nice if the large group would let you squeeze by(play through) like most do playing golf in a big group. Im am usually part of a big group, but it is a big group of well-built rigs and we move at a pretty good rate. we are usualy only slowed down by the lessor built rigs that we come apon, the people I wheel with Ive been wheeling with for 14 years, were all layed back and dont get upset when we are slowed down, curtious to everyone, and usualy at least once along the trail end up welding up a strangers broken rig, or giving a newbie some spare parts to help them off the trail..asking for nothing but that they pay it forward to someone else later on when they are more prepared. We were all underbuilt-newbies at one time and we should some-what look out for each other as we progress. you guys talk bad about buggy owners, My last rig was a buggy, I have friends with buggies, and they have the same attitude as I do, I have wheeled with jerks before, but they dont get reinvited to run with us because we have low tollerance for jerks, doesnt matter if they run a buggy or stock liberty. sorry about the novel, and sorry about taking this off topic from where the thread was suppose to be going.

I rarely post much tech or product information because it doesn't seem like very many people care. Anyone else kinda get that vibe?
Wasn't always that way.. but it has been quite the tech drought...

The only other thing I will add to this post is that people take the internet way too seriously. If you think there is a clique, it is most likely because they know each other in real life. If people are getting offended or angry over the internet...well it is just the internet... :D log off and stop the drama.
