Also, why the f*** is the head of the god damn Teamsters a speaker at the Republican National Convention?

Man... It seems like we're looking at the beginnings of a two left wing party country. The GOP no longer seems to care about balanced budgets, tax and entitlement reform, defending our interests abroad, free trade, the right to work, on and on. It seems like the GOP has become the Democrats of the early 2000's while the DNC has adopted the Democratic Socialists of America's platform.

I'm starting to get the impression that Trump and his acolytes answer to, "I'm from the government and I'm here to help." is, "Yes, please!" rather than the traditional conservatives, "No thank you, I can take care of it myself."

Trump is a religion. His followers are going to defend him in the same way. Deflect accountability, reassign blame, ignore facts, defend from and attack the opposition relentlessly.

The positions don't need to be defensible because they have faith he is The One because he told them so. He's Taylor Swift for white conservatives... He can sing and dance just enough to get his message to the audience it was deliberately and perfectly curated for. And it was, trust and believe. In the same mold as Swiftys, his followers search every corner of the world to manufactur outrage at the treatment of their demagogue and make excuses for him. I mean, we were literally just told about the outrage created by Jimmy Kimmel and then followed by an argument based on logic thinner than my hair line. Unpopular opinion alert, but his supporters rage about what pussies liberals are with their unrelenting desire to reduce harm on marginalized populations, but Trumpys are literally the most emotionally fragile snowflakes in our country. Literally everything is an attack and they react with petty name calling and raising their voices (like my 5 year old) to spew the same poorly thought out positions they've been fed on their preferred, totally unbiased and 100% not an echo chamber source of truth (maybe they could even call it Truth!.. .oh wait....).

Really, the next step to full blown religion is deification... And now people are calling it divine that he wasnt killed. It would almost be entertaining if it weren't so scary and predictable.
I hear everything you are saying and don't disagree. The problem is, you can say almost the exact same thing about the other team. My co-worker was praising Biden yesterday for making a phone call to Trump post shooting. He was pretty proud of that move because A) Trump would never do that and B) it was an example of Biden "being a leader".
I don't even know if there was a phone call but anyone with a functioning frontal cortex can see that Biden is not leading anything, he is being led by handlers. At this point, I am certain the Democrats could run a retired KKK leader as their candidate and the Republican's could run an Ex Gay Porn star (Gay male porn star, cause that changes things) and both teams would chant for their candidate. There is not a single shred of integrity left, it's just "Not the other teams guy". I have my doubts that AI will be able to take over and function when the inputs we are feeding it are this retarded. Maybe that is the saving grace in all this.

I am pretty confident Biden will finally step aside in thr next little bit. He had said just late last week themat he would only step aside if a "medical condition" prevented him from running.

Now he tests positive foe Covid. I am guessing they are setting it up so he can step aside with a little but of pride still intact (not sure what he to be proud about  )

Hopefully they see that with the assignation attempt they now lose for sure. With Trump's pick for VP bring more of a MAGA hardener they have the chance to try and pull in a more centrist Democrat (I can hope a centrist is on the ballot at this point) this is the best chance I think they have of winning against Trump at this point.

It will be curious to see it play out but the talk of medical issue causing him to step aside and now Covid is way too coincidental to me

...they have the chance to try and pull in a more centrist Democrat..

Can they really nominate anyone else but Harris if Biden steps out? I certainly do not know how the finances work. But Biden does have the war chest and I'd think it would automatically go to Harris if he steps out. Can she or he simply give all that money to whichever candidate they choose? I don't know.

But whoever would replace him on the ballot will need a shit ton of money. Quick. I "think" Harris will have that money by default?

It’s all about the theatrics. They are trying to get him to step down with dignity. The funny thing about the COVID announcement is that he is shown getting off AF1 in Delaware last night without a mask. I thought it was mandatory for Democrats to wear a mask if you have the Rona. Not sure if the stage director of this show really cares about the optics at this point.

Yes, Harris is the only one who can inherit the Biden-Harris Campaign funds. If she is not running, then that money cannot just be redistributed to another candidate.

I'm 50/50 still as to whether Biden drops out.

Harris is the most likely person that they would nominate because she is the VP, but her terrible record and approval ratings, which are worse than Bidens, still make her a hard sell. They could have an open convention and allow anyone interested to put their hats in and have the delegates vote. Thats how nominations used to happen before the era of primaries began in the mid-20th century. But for a party so obsessed with identity politics and "Democracy", I find it hard to see them passing over the first black woman VP who has been voted for in the primaries as Bidens running mate.

People have a 30 second memory. Yesterday I say a post from Libs of Tik Tok (right leaning page) celebrating people being fired for saying the shooter should have had a better aim. It's free speech or it isn't. How can it be wrong when it's the Left doing it, but it's ok for people to lose their jobs over public comments now that they are making jabs at Trump? I want off this ride.

Yea I wasn't OK with that either. Getting people fired because they said dumb shit online is one of the lowest forms of human activity. Besides, that lady probably would have got herself fired regardless of intervention.

BTW, I'm a former business owner, who after being a mechanic, got my MBA, and started my own business. So I'm well aware of how the economy works. Inflation was almost nil due to Covid, but then Joe got in and started implementing his crap policies. Inflation started increasing almost immediately (by February 2021) in response.

I lay the blame where it belongs.

Here you go: https://www.usinflationcalculator.com/inflation/current-inflation-rates/

Of course inflation was low in the first year + of the pandemic, we were in an economic free fall (least we forget period of unemployment, yes under Trump, of well over 10%.)

And yes, the first several rounds of "COVID Stimulus" checks went out under Trump.

Trump to me is the lesser of two evils. Since no one else has even a chance of beating the big-government biden machine, I'll vote for the chance of that happening by voting for Trump

The bottom line for me, is that this country and the world (certainly Ukraine) were better off during the Trump Presidency.

Which form of "big government machine" are we talking about? The stereotypical one that people claim is favor only by Democrats or one that gets the government involved in all layers of social issues pushed by the current GOP?

The only areas where the Trump administration tried at all to decrease government power was over environmental regulation. And I certainly don't trust industries to put clear air and water ahead of profit.

And the idea that Russia or any other nation feared Trump is not based on fact. We know Trump praised dictators, they mocked him. And considering the increasing isolationist ideology of the GOP (including holding up military support for Ukraine), we should not believe that a new Trump presidency will bring world peace.

Wasn't Vance an adamant never trumper? I'm confused. The guy is on video stating such...? He stated that he would rather hold his nose and vote hillary in 2016... or something to that effect.
I'm actually confused as to why Trump picked him. He's globalist trash and his wife is in the pockets of Bill Gates.

Wildly conflicting info going about.

As others have said, Vance like many others in the GOP, changed their tune completely as soon as it was clear continuing to speak out against Trump was unpopular (think Mike Lee locally). Power above principle.

My biggest concern with Vance is he has 2 years experience in the Senate, hardly the needed level of qualifications to be president should the aging Trump not make it through another term.

Yes, an Ivy League investment banker seems an odd choice to lead the MAGAites.
Strangely neither Trump, Vance and most the other so-called leaders of the GOP are part of an economic and educational class the MAGA crowd rallies against.

Hmmm, I’m not sure about this. Maybe they feared Trump the same way we fear Kim Jong-un….yes mock, but also you never know what they might do?

I think they’ve been trying to prime the entire country for months, so when Biden does step aside ( I absolutely think he will) the voters will accept just about anyone in his place.

I did not see the post, but agree that it is 100% free speech. My satisfaction comes in seeing people who actively pushed cancel culture on conservatives are getting some of their own medicine.

They need the money so they will keep Harris in play, then they will have Gavin or similar be her running mate. Dems will be voting for a VP this year.
