    Trail conditions in Moab

It was back in December. But we have had a bunch of storms since then, so it's hard to say what it looks like now.

    Trail conditions in Moab

The last time I did Kane Creek was the day after Christmas. It was snowy and the creek was frozen, but it was very driveable. It is one of my favorite winter runs.

    Trail conditions in Moab

I just ran Gold Bar Rim today in preparation for this weekends Red Hot 50K foot race (our club is providing the aid stations). We were able to get all the way to the top of Gold Bar... the trail is mostly clear, with some snow and mud in places. The shelf road leading from the highway towards...

    Coyote Canyon Update

We remain optimistic that we will one day see it re-opened. However, the BLM will not consider any new route designations untill the current route inventory is marked on the ground. This process in underway, but the estimated completion is not before Fall or Winter of 2010. In the meantime...

    97 jeep tj problems.....?

I just had to replace the fuel pump on my wifes 97 TJ (105K miles). It would run fine, then just suddenly cut out and die. At first it was only once every few weeks, then it started happening more frequently, maybe once a day or more. She would pull over, and after a few minutes it would start...

Don't let driving a non-Jeep stop you, there is every kind of rig imaginable sign up for Safari trails. Anyway, keep in touch, as long as I can schedule a day away from work, I shouold be able to do a run the week after EJS.

Pritchet Canyon rated a 9 for EJS 2010?

LT, I'd love to have you along. The trail I'm leading on the 29th is an official EJS run, so you'll have to sign up for that, but I'm sure I'd be up for another run after EJS is over.

    New Moab Samurai project

We have been waiting for parts for a while, but we did get the cage welded up and painted. We set the tub in place, and bolted the cage on (temporarily), the started a front tube clip and bolted the hood back on. Then last week, we finally got some of the parts in we have been waiting for...

Pritchet Canyon rated a 9 for EJS 2010?

Pritchett is one of the trails that RR4W gets exclusive use for on the days it is used for official runs. EJS runs are on 3/28, 3/29, 3/30, 4/1, and 4/3. It is open the rest of the time.

Pritchet Canyon rated a 9 for EJS 2010?

That is up to the trail leader. (I assume you are talking about the official EJS runs,) I am leading Pritchett on Monday 3/29, and I would probably turn away anyone without a winch. Pritchett has become more difficult every year. However, a good driver in a lesser-built rig certainly can do...

    What about SUWA?

Kurt is right, there is nothing to "prove" at this time. All we have at this time are maps with blocked-out areas showing proposed wilderness. The exact boundaries would be determined after the fact. But at this moment, to the best of my ability, the trails I listed appear to be within the...

    Moab Conference Room Needed

RR4W is now using Gravel Pit Lanes bowling alley for their meetings. They have a large room that you can rent. The Grand Center has several rooms available, though.

    What about SUWA?

I guess they don't consider Crystal Geyser, Secret Spire, Hey Joe Canyon (almost all), Hell Roaring Rim, Gold Bar Rim (most all), Golden Spike (most all), Copper Ridge, Dome Plateau spurs, Top of the World, Rose Garden Hill, Dolores Triangle, Porcupine Rim Coffee Pot loop, Steel Bender, Behind...

    Long distance running

If you guys are interested, there are three trail races each year in Moab. Our club has provided aid stations for them for a number of years, and they are a lot of fun. There is the Moab Alpine to Slickrock in September, that runs 50 miles through the La Sals. The Ultimate XC is in November, and...

    New Moab Samurai project

Well, it's been snowing like crazy the last couple days in Moab, so that means no work and no wheelin. Might as well get some more done on the project. The Yukon front shafts showed up yesterday. Tires also came in. 39x14.5x17 Pitbull Maddogs. They measure about 38" mounted on 9.5" Allied...
