Rick's Back Flip off Rock Pile

I love the way you did the build, and overall it works very well! In fact, I am planning on linking my wife's samurai this winter, and I am going to use many of your ideas! As for stretching the wheelbase, we have learned from experience that anything under about 102" or so is pretty short for...

    40" LTB & other tires - opinions & experiences

I'm running TSL's. Surgeryturtle's LTB's seem to work well. They did take a few trips to break in, but I suppose that is normal. They seem to be pretty tough, grip well, and they are wearing a lot better than the Iroks she had before.

    New Moab Samurai project

Progress has slowed a bit in the last month (too much wheelin' going on, I guess), but we have been working as much as we can. By next weekend, we should be ready to start the wiring. Also still need to run brake lines, fuel lines, fab and exhaust system, skid plates, and lots of details...

Rick's Back Flip off Rock Pile

No, not at all. Rick bought the rig already built. The guy that built it did a very nice job, but Rick and I both felt that the cage needed a lot more bracing. I'm glad we did it! Our next major modification to it will be tweaking the suspension a bit and pushing the rear axle back 6 or 8...

Rick's Back Flip off Rock Pile

Rick said he was a little sore the next day, but not bad. By Monday, he felt fine, and was back out on Moab Rim and Hell's Revenge. He is using stock-type Toyota seats and the stock seat belt / shoulder strap. He did evrything right when he started to go over. He held on to the steering wheel...

4th Annual RME BBQ Pics & Report

Great pics! I'd like to give a huge THANK YOU to RME for a great event! The food and raffle were both awesome. And on behalf of Moab Friends-For-Wheelin', I especially want to thank RME, all of the vendors, and everyone who bought raffle tickets. You can rest assured that the money will be...

    Lockjaw - location & difficulty

From the starting point of Helldorado, go down the wash (Strike Ravine) instead of heading up the hill. Take the first right hand turn up the short hill, just a hundred yards or so from Helldorado. Another hundred yards or so there is a prominent road to your right, but you want to take a left...

    MFFW Clean-up at Area BFE

You're welcome, Olaf! Actually, we were amazed at how clean the trails were, much cleaner than the last time we were there a month or so ago. We did fill a few small trash bags, and hauled everything away. I don't know if anyone took any pics, but I will ask. Jeff

    La Sal Pass, opened yet?

I doubt that it is clear yet, but I don't know for sure. We have a run scheduled there for the end of next month.

Green Day Strike Ravine Memorial Day Weekend

The wash that parallels the county road may just barely clip the corner of Kiley's property, just past the exit of Coyote Canyon. If you access the wash from the next pull-out (just up the road from Coyote), you will also be on private property, but not Kiley's. It belongs to the developer who...

    New Moab Samurai project

Got some fenders built. They cover half the tire. We'll make some clip-on rubber extensions for full coverage when he needs to be street legal. Fenders are strong enough to be used as sliders and pivot points in the rocks. The stock grill was narrowed a few inches. We used pop rivets...

    MFFW Clean-up at Area BFE

Moab Friends-For-Wheelin' is planning a clean-up day at Area BFE for Saturday May 22nd, 2010. We will primarily be concentrating on the trails, since the upper area will be used for a concert the following weekend and will probably need a separate clean-up after that. We will also be making a...

    New Moab Samurai project

It will be done this year for sure :D Jim Durabak'd the interior, and I got the seats mounted. The first seat hoop I built wouldn't work (too high), so I had to re-build it. The seats are positioned perfect for Jim or me, but there are no sliders, so anyone shorter/taller probably won't fit...

    New Moab Samurai project

Got a little done last week. We probably won't have a chance to work on it much for the next couple of weeks, but the seats should be here by then. We built the tunnel out of 18 gauge steel. Not real pretty, but it will do the job, and will be easily removable for service. Jim used a...

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it does, but call the Park Service to verify that.

    Dogs On Moab Trails

Dogs aren't allowed in National Parks, but are okay otherwise. There are supposed to be on a leash on BLM trails, though.

    New Moab Samurai project

It's a roller!!! 106" wheelbase. 84" outside of tires. Front clip. Still needs a few bolts. Flat belly! As it sits now belly height is 21", which should be the final ride height. Tub-to-cage attachment. Another shot of the front clip.
