Toyota 22re? Not as cool as people say?

Cool stories! That's cool you sold a truck at 115 and found it again at 250! With some of this in mind I'm going to be getting my stock 91, I mentioned in the first post, ready for crawlfest, in the next couple days. It's going to be my own version of top gears "you cAnt kill a Toyota" but...

Toyota 22re? Not as cool as people say?

What I'm saying is that people treat the 22r like People also treat the f motor. In my opinion the f motor at times have 50 years under their belt and deserves that sort of respect. I don't see 22rs lasting that long. And I don't think they deserve any more hype than any other motor

Toyota 22re? Not as cool as people say?

On another end, a motor deserving of it's good reputation is the f and 2f motors how many of those are still running great in cruisers? They are sometimes twice as old as the 22re

Toyota 22re? Not as cool as people say?

I agree maintainance is key with all motors and maybe I'm being a bit harsh is calling it a bad motor. With proper maintenance it can last for 20 years... But so can any motor, why does the 22r get such a high horse and the 3.0 3vzfe get such a bad name? Surely it shares same common problems as...

Toyota 22re? Not as cool as people say?

Good points! A couple of the above mentioned vehicles are infact 200,000 mile cars but not all. only two of them have ever been off road, and only one of those on a lifted truck. I will get more info on mileage/background and edit. Also think about performance. I laugh in my head everytime...

Toyota 22re? Not as cool as people say?

So me and a buddy were talking the other day, we both see a lot of Toyota trucks and we both have several friends with Toyota trucks and we both have noticed a lot of 22res dropping dead lately which got me thinking. I have an 86 4runner with a hole in the side of the 22re. I have a 91 pick up...

Report 5 Best North American Overland Vehicles

suprisingly its pretty simular, my brother is a gwagon nut. the axles are the same, they all have standard locking diffs, the only differance is motor options, over there they have diesel, and i think a v12 option. the us spec g55 does 0-60 in 4.7 seconds... pretty impressive with a solid...

    FJ40's

I’d buy one to restore, and drive to the gas station and cabin once in a while. It takes a lot of patience to run a long trail in one. I sat in the back seat of one on the Rubicon when i was 15, it was fun but i would take my 80 or my 4runner next time. that being said Kurt has rocked his for...

2011 Old School Charity Rock Crawl, May 12-14

f-toy would be awesome if they did a few things, starting with realizing that its 2010. they need to make chassis specs(has to be so wide, tall, long) but not "has to be an ugly hendrix chassis", they need to open it up to any production toy motor under so many liters(n/a 22res are borring, max...

    "Comp cut"=hideous

"comp cut" is only as ugly as you make it. some look good, some look bad. just like some jeeps look good, some look bad. as for being a time machine into 1990? im pretty sure way more jeeps are getting comp cut in 2010 than in 1990?? i would love to meet someone whos was that far in the game in...

Q for the Land Rover guys

It's a little off subject but I've heard of rover guys doing this and it just makes me wonder why they don't just swap whole toy axle under? Is it super easy to swap out parts? It just seems like to me(granted I know nothing about rovers) that it would be easier to weld a few brackets in place...

    4runner Build

What Carl said... Don't get me wrong, I love the toy axle I've bashed them for years but you can spend a lot of money trying to get it as strong as a 60(been there. Still Isnt as strong) but you really can't touch a 60 no matter what. That being said my 4runner has a toy axle and will remain a...

    Let's talk crawl ratios!

According to chevycrews calculator, it does make way more sense to go lower, but what about strength? Will that make my pinion way weaker?
