Shutdown could deal big blow to Utah river rafting outfit

These stories are all the media has to make us all afraid of a gov't shutdown. They will use recreation because it's about the only thing people actually like that the Gov't is involved in. I'd love to see anyone enforce this guy not running the rivers when he has his SRP to run the river...

    Samsung Galaxy S4 or iphone.

I have the Lumia 822. Once you set up the live tiles the way you want, it just makes sense. Everything I use is right where I want it, and if I don't use it much I can take it off the home screen in about a second.

    Lets Talk Tents

I like that quarter dome, and it's on sale right now. How big is the vestibule in real life? It doesn't look too big from the photos, but photos are usually misleading.

    Lets Talk Tents

my son is getting to be the age where he is wanting to be out with dad on the longer/harder trips. On easy camping trips we just take the Commander and have room for the kitchen sink. Its cramped in the YJ however when you pack for more than one.

Anyone ever use Nemo tents? At the OR show they seemed pretty well made (they should be for the price). I'm wondering if anyone has any real world experience with them.

    Lets Talk Tents

I was just thinking this. I do have a few tents, but there are little issues with all of them that make them less than ideal. I have a black diamond mega light that I use when I go back packing, it packs up small, but has little else going for it. I have a couple cheap coleman dome tents, but...

    Lets Talk Tents

Wind is a huge concern for me. I'm tired of worrying about poles snapping and grommets ripping. I always err on the side of caution and let the tent down if its just windy and no rain, but it would be nice to have confidence in my tent and be able to leave it up.

    Lets Talk Tents

So, I am currently in the market for a 3 season tent. When I pack in the wrangler I need to pack fairly light, so a springbar is out, and a RTT is impractical on a wrangler. Given those restrictions what does a person look for in a tent? What features are a muct have and which ones are just...

    First aid kit shopping list.....

Here's something that doesn't fit in a kit, but is just as important if not more. I encourage everyone to go take a wilderness first aid or if time and money allow, a wilderness first responder course.

    First aid kit shopping list.....

I'd add a couple of SAM splints to any kit. They roll up small, and are useful for all kinds of things.

What is overlanding? An expedition versus car-camping?

On the real "expeditions" I've been on it's been 75% collecting data, photographing, etc. and 25% actual driving. I do feel fortunate that I've had the chance to contribute scientifically while out in new-to-me territory, I much prefer the "backcountry travel" aspect, where I don't need to worry...
