    Jeep friends??

Tone, inlfection...whatever. It simply does not, in my mind, reflect well on a person when they can not speak with out every second or third word (honest, not much exageration) being the f-word. Otherwise, enjoyed the group and was a good team to be on the tundra with. I will also say that...

Exploring the Dolores Triangle, April '09

Great little trip. BTW, Greg, I did not draw my deer tag for the area. Will have to try again next year.

    Jeep friends??

Great personalities here. Fun thread. I don't blame you at all for the no f-bomb comment. Some of the guys I was with in Canada last month would have barely talked if they took that word out of their vocabulary. Was the only down side to the trip.

    Paris / New York - Transcontinental 2009

too bad it did not succeed. I was very courious as to how they would do the Alaska stretches since they are completely roadless. As difficult of a time as they had on the sort-of road sections in Asia and knowing how rough and difficult sea ice can be even in relatively short stretches, I...

    I Drove!

I love the first photo, the one with the Kite above the Jeep. Very cool shot.

    anybody ever wheeled a subaru?

One thought I just had, doesn't the Loyale body style have a pretty significant rear overhang? Probably front as well. If you could still find one in good condition, you may be better off with the previous body style (I can't remember exact years, but included our 84).

    speak to Cub Scouts?

The May theme for Cub Scouting is "Leave Nothing but Footprints". I was wondering if anyone here would be interested and willing to come to our pack meeting (wed. May 6, 7pm) and give a 15-20 minute presentation on Tread Lightly/Leave No Trace ideas? I could do the presentation, but since...

    anybody ever wheeled a subaru?

Never at the level I now see as wheeling. However, around my high school year family had an '84 Sub wagoon. Had low range, adjustable height suspension. We used it as our hunting rig for a number of years on some fair rough dirt roads and trails. Did very well in snow, had about 12" ground...

    Miller Motorsports Park

It is owner by the Millers. One big thing that I am sure drives up the cost is insurance. When you look at the liability involved (despite waivers I am sure you would have to sign) I am pretty surprised they open not only the off-road but the rest of the track to the public. Government...

    North to the Canadian Arctic

I really wish I had a thermometer while at camp. The morning I flew home, it was -12, at about 11am. I really think that was a pretty typical day. I suspect coldest temps would have been -25 or so. Not all that bad really. But, when you take twenty below and add 40-50 mph winds, it...

    North to the Canadian Arctic

The dogs are amazing. That is what drew into sled dog medicine. If you look closely at one of the Tuesday moring pictures, you can see a couple of ears sticking out of the snow. As the storm wound down, it was hard to walk around camp because you could not see alot of the dogs and to avoid...

    North to the Canadian Arctic

I was able to spend 5 days traveling north of Churchill, Manitoba. Although not all that far north (about the same as Juneau, Alaska), the area is very much Arctic in nature (our camp in Nunala is 100 miles or so north of the closest tree, despite being at sea level). The trip had...

    Poison Spider Mesa experts

I would only worry about the part of it being the husbands truck. At least when I end up with battle scars on Monty, I can justify it to my wife that it is my rig and I bought it to use off road as well as commute. If I damged her Ram, I would be in big trouble! Do you want to contribute...

    Hummer brand dead March 31

Glad to see the tone slowly coming back to reality. Can we end it with, for good or bad, Hummer is dead. And for good, we have people where who wheel a wide range of vehicles, each for their own reasons. We can like and hate the rigs we want to, but when it starts turning on the driver...

    Hummer brand dead March 31

Agree 100%. This anti-Hummer/Hummer owner thread piggybacks perfectly onto last months Rubicon rants. I would strongly suggest that most of the folks here who "hate" Hummer owners attitudes have met few of them. I think there are probably jerks in every brand and model! To assult the...
