    Gooseneck hitch questions.....

As everyone has said, 2 to 4 inches in front of the axle is where you want it. Being a short bed, you need to consider the trailer though. If it has an upper deck area, or something like a travel trailer you can't mount it there. When you turn sharp, the corner of the trailer will come through...

    Motor swap advise please.

The donor engine has to be the same year or newer that the vehicle it's going into, and still pass the 98 emission standards. That's a hard one to prove, but obviously carbs died long before 98. He's in Logan, so it's not an issue right now but it's comming down the pipe in the near future...

    06' M.W.Y.M.I USFS/U4WDA AFC Project Planning Thread

Count me in. I was there yesterday, and other than the picnic areas, the place was lookin great! All the way up Mineral, I was only able to snag 3 water bottles and two cans. I think the people using it are finally realizing what we have. Let's hang onto it long as we can!

    Motor swap advise please.

It's a half good idea. Too bad the state wont allow a carb under a Sanoma hood......

Yukon XL vs Suburban tow ratings

I think either one would do the same job, but longer is always better for towing. I wouldn't settle for a 1500 in either model. Stay with the 2500 for the stronger axle, and slightly better braking. Both would need some work on the spring end to tow properly. Air bags are your best choice...

Would a person need a CDL to drive this?

RV's don't have to stop, only comercial.

What do you coat you Bumper/Armor with?

I just did mine with the black "wrinkle" finish Krylon. Turned out pretty nice, and the textured finish tends to hide imperfections underneath.

Would a person need a CDL to drive this?

This is the very BEST thing I've heard. I'm required to run them, even on 3/4 tons. The stickers are cop magnets.

Would a person need a CDL to drive this?

If I were you I wouldn't....:D You don't need it (even in California), and dont forget the yearly DOT physical that's required. Your width is limited, but that's mainly on the east coast. I'm 55 feet long which is no problem in all 50 states, but I'm 102" wide which is a no-no on the...

    Automatic Gear Ratio

My 4 to 1 with the auto is plenty low I think. I'm used to the Toyota, where I had that mid-range as well. The problem I have with the Rubi is I find myself shifting into high range a lot when the trail turns to two-track kinda stuff. I have to stop to shift, which can be a PITA when others are...

Would a person need a CDL to drive this?

No CDL required as long as it's an RV, bottom line, period. But, you can plan on being check for one now and then. Once the see it's an RV, they'll just wish you a good day.

    4X4 swap meet

Just a thought...... How bout turning this into a U4WDA thing. Charge sellers a minimal fee, like $5 or something, and welcome all local shops for a larger fee. Who knows, maybe it could rival the off-road expo! I could probably get my hands on a parking lot here in the valley.
