Other Region Upcoming Trip: Rubicon Trail Lake Tahoe, CA Sept 5-8th 2012

Assuming you are running the trail as most...south to north... there is a forest service campground before you hit ice house, and the campground host can issue your permit...free of charge....one is all that is needed for a group (unless they have changed rules) basically you sign your life away...

Other Region Upcoming Trip: Rubicon Trail Lake Tahoe, CA Sept 5-8th 2012

In our experience the biggest thing that slows you down on the Rubicon....excluding some kind of breakdown...is simply like any other trail....the number of vehicles and people. We had 10 with us the first time and it was a little slow, its really not the driving it is the stopping and then...

Other Region Upcoming Trip: Rubicon Trail Lake Tahoe, CA Sept 5-8th 2012

We once had a couple of open jeeps with 33's and they did not have all that much trouble...a little momentum at times, but they are good drivers and pick good lines. In fact they probably had a lot more fun getting through the trail. The Rubicon is really not a very hard trail. Yes there are...

Other Region Upcoming Trip: Rubicon Trail Lake Tahoe, CA Sept 5-8th 2012

The first time we ran the trail we went one way...had a great time. But later after we got home we asked ourselves "why did we not just turn around and go back the way we came?" So the next time we did that...the trail is the same scenery just all of the obstacles are backwards its just twice...

A few years ago during the Ultimate Adventure they ran a trail called Gas Tank Alley...Does anyone on this site know anything about these trails or others out there? The Bangin Bones 4x4 club cancelled this years Wild Weekend event...

    'Cat Canyon' Trailhead

In October when I went by it was clearly marked closed with a BLM sign in the dead center at the head of the trail. When we called into the BLM office there was a lot of confusion as to whether it should be open or not but the lady said if it is marked closed it was closed. I posted up later...

    rough country long arm?

The rough country long arm upgrade for a TJ has been out long enough now to give some feedback. For those of you who have bought it and installed it and wheeled the crap out of it...How is it holding up? How high is your TJ lifted? What size of tires do you run? How does it feel on the...

    Moab Oct. 29-31

one of our favorite day runs when we have vehicles of all abilities....go up the highway towards canyonlands, then take off and go up through Wipe out, drop over into tusher wash and take the trail out to tusher tunnel. drop down by bartlett and cruise into the pickle, swing around through...

Cat Canyon closed for wilderness study?

The sign was in the middle of the trail with a jeep, motorcycle and an atv crossed out on each one. It was a little funny because they picked up some cantalope size rocks and neatly laid them across the trail as well for emphasis right before it initially drops into the wash.

Cat Canyon closed for wilderness study?

I was cruising along Hwy 6 last week and need a break so I stopped at the trailhead for Cat Canyon to go for a little walk up the trail. Around the road from the highway in the middle of the trail was 2 signs stating that this was the King Top Wilderness Study area and the trail was off limits...

    Rubicon Trail ???'s

rubicon is a classic....a must do for anyone thinking they are a wheeler. As mentioned it is not overly difficult, however it is pretty constant and as with any trail mechanical failure can and does happen. We have taken open vehicles with 33 inch tires and have done fine however those of us...

    SAWMILL TRAIL OUTSIDE OF DELTA

Looking for a little information on this trail. Is it a spur or loop trail? How long of a trail? Time to run the trail for 5 locked up rigs? Difficulty of the trail? Is it constant obstacles, or a few patches of rock gardens with decent trail inbetween? Is it on BLM, State...

    School me on the Rubicon?!

Get a few rigs together and go do it as an unorganized run. There is plenty of information about the trail. It is very easy to find and once on it you just follow the trail. There are rules you need to know so educate yourself whether you are going with an event or just with your buddies. We...

    School me on the Rubicon?!

THE RUBICON TRAIL IS A TOP 5 TRAIL We have run it 3 times, Wentworth Springs has some good stuff on it, as does the Loon Lake entrance. While you are there you might as well plan on running the thing both ways. It is far enough away you are crazy not to. Both ways are fun. The hard stuff...

Delta's New Helldorado and Hells Backbone

looks like a fun rocky trail. How long is this trail? Are the pictures typical of the entire trail? Is the location protected or can someone give me some coordinates or directions? Is it a round trip trail or an up and back? We have been out there before and had a great time on Cat Canyon...

Triple Treat with new 4 Door JK Stock

Is the jeep bought to get groceries or is it bought to wheel???? If your buddy is afraid of getting a little busted up he should not be thinking about wheeling in the first place. I started wheeling when 31 inch tires where considered "BIG" we went all over in Moab and probably had a lot...
