Here are a few pics of what I have done so far.

It is Semi permanent. It bolts on at the top into the bed and into the frame. I will probably never remove unless to sell the truck

I ran out of wire so I still need to finish a few welds and clean it up for paint. I have some lights I am going to recess into the bumper and I need to run the wire for the lights and a trailer plug

Whats the plan?Run the front tires on this?If this is the case I would make the ramps into pockets.So the tires sit down in and can't roll off.

The plan is to drive the buggy right on the bed so the rear tires will be sitting on the back and the front up against the cab

I really like it maybe you can make some removable stops for behind the tires as a saftey measure. I'm sure some good tie downs would work fine though

Do you think the "bumper" on that bed is strong enough to support it like that? I've seen those bend like their made of sheet metal. I like it though.

the ramps that you see in the pics are connected at the top with a 3x3 angle that is 1/4" thick and that is connected to the bed using 12 9/16 grade 8 bolts. 2 of which are bolted to the frame.

I was thinking about building some sort of stop bar for the front axle. Something that would be easily removed but would act as a stop if a chain were to break

I'm not talking about your ramps, I think they look plenty stout. What I'm referring to is the hitch on the truck. It may be a different setup then what I've seen fail (can't see it real well), but I know we had a large International flatbed and our driver backed in to a ramp and folded it right under like it wasn't even there. We had it replaced and it happened again, but this time he backed in to a stack of pallets (it folded before the pallets broke...and yes, he was fired after the second time )

The hitch on the truck is 4" Chanel that is backed by plates that are cut at an angle that welded all the way up to the frame so It should handle the weight no problem.

I am sure if I were to hit something they might bend but that would be a lot more force then would be exerted from towing or hauling the buggy.

That is what I was thinking too, stops on the back and the sides. Think rainy night, wet ramps and tires, swerve to avoid hitting a deer and what that rig may do it it moved off those ramps. Some stake pockets on the back side, and out sides that would accept a little stop would be easy enough to add.

The cross sections on the ramps are recessed an inch so the tires will be sitting below that should help against side movement.

And see if the LEO's pull you over, not for anything other than just standing out.

I have been keeping my eyes on a ramp truck for the same reasons-No trailer.

I am kinda thinking the same thing. I am going to make sure My license plate light works and the extension will have lights built into it. and once I get it finished I plan to weigh it front and rear so I know that nothing is overloaded. This way I make sure when I get pulled over I wont have any worries

As long as they can clearly see that the buggy is well secured they will never bother you.

If you fit entirely on the bed width wise, I would build some short metal side boards as well.

The bed is plenty wide at 96" and the truck did come with some 1' sides but they are trashed. What I am thinking is building ramps to load the buggy with and then add tube off the sides where they can slide into the stake pockets for storage then they would act as sides for the front 4' of the bed where the front tires would be.

After all if the buggy is moving around that much I have major problems

ya... you can throw metal at it all day. Just chain it and safety chain it and you wont have any issues. Just dont drive the truck like its your buggy ok???

Good idea.

Side boards have 3 functions, if it does get loose they will help hold it on until you get stopped. The more secure it looks the less cops will bother you. They hold extra crap on the truck, like coolers, bags, gas cans, spare heads for when your V10 spits out a spark plug....

Very cool. I don't have any pics but I've seen a couple of guys transport their rigs in this manner. Their used to be someone in UROC with a similar setup, I'm sure Carl or one of the other UROC regulars might remember who it was. I always though it was a neat and wasy way to get a rig around without the hassles of a trailer.
