I know what you mean about the hight thing I am 6'0 and 300 pounds.. So getting my big ass to fit has been fun..You're right! Cage building take a ton of time! I find myself spending almost as much time thinking about it as I spend actually working on it!
I would love to see some pics, I've been looking at a lot of build threads to see other designs & different ideas! Being 6'3" my biggest concern seems to be head clearance & getting in & out without difficulty. Beign able to look at different builds really helps but maybe that is what is making it take so long!?!?
^^ Skip that last request ^^ Actually, I just looked back through the last few pages & saw a lot of really good pics & ideas!!
I like the shorter corner tubes rather than big X braces that I see in full on buggies & Super aggressive crawlers!
Naturally I want a strong & safe cage, but it needs to be accessible, plus I need it to fit underneath a soft top, which I think yours will!
Looks plenty strong!
Thanks Randy. How has yours been? Did u have many bugs to work out.
Wow, that is quality work. Nice job.
Mine's great- just a few suspension tweaks were all that I needed. Still not finished...life has a way of interrupting things. Been working on other people's stuff...

Ya the short corner tubs I think will help with strenght alot. The other thing I think it will help with is a place to grab as the wife and kids try and get into the rig..
I also got some of these for in the corners for extra strenght and also a place to tie off if I needed it.. With having kids in my rig I want it to both be functional and safe.

Anytime. Not much of a project right now. I'm driving it around town. Looking for a 14 bolt to drop in the rear, and saving for ARBs and a 5.3/700r4 swap. : )Bart, thanks for the compliment. Chad doesn't let me get away with anything. LOL. When can I come check out your project?
I keep thinking that those short corner bars are good for that reason, but I'm afraid of them being too easy to grab in a flop or roll & causing injuries!!:-\
I thought about putting an arc in them & rotating them a little bit inboard so they wouldn't contact the ground on the same plane as the roll cage bars just to be safe!
I've rolled only once, & had the steering wheel to hang onto, I know the first thing every passenger is going to try to grab is a bar over their head!
If the most obvious thing above your head wont crush your hand against the ground, that would be a good thing! Right?
BTW: Those gussets look cool & handy! I might have to make something like that for myself!!:greg:
I like short straight tube for gussets. As for grab handles, I like to make them separate, either with bent tube or the velcro on kind. Any new passenger that rides with me gets a lesson on not grabbing the roll bar and where exactly they can grab. Very important. If I see a passenger do that, even in another rig, I'll bring it to their attention.
