Most friends that compete told us to put water in the front tires. I am honestly scared of breaking something because of the added stress. Hope I don't regret it. Just to the bottom of the wheel. Farmington is next weekend. Wish us luck.

I think Farmington is the place I wouldnt want water especially on C courses. Its going to hurt your ability to dig, the front tires will be more likely to just drag the car around. there is already so much traction in farmington.

I think you'll be fine on the not breaking thing. It really changes the dynamics of the car, but it's predictable. I actually ran water in the front of my tan CJ for a little while. Skippy brings up a valid point.

So should I remove it then? LOL.

Good to here.

We are wheeling on Thursday and Friday down there and will see how it feels. It is just to the bottom of the wheel. Worst case if we don't like it then we can drain them.

I have been getting the buggy ready for next season. We installed the new Maxxis Sticky creepy crawler 40s, and I have Branik shafts on the way so we can get 50 degree steering
We are re-wrapping the entire car with new sponsors for this season. Since it was going to have a new wrap I decided to clean it up and give it a fresh coat of paint.

That’s cool maxxis is making a sticky creepy crawler again. Treps are cool. Creepy crawlers are cooler 😎

Yea that is not what we were expecting. We thought we were getting the trepadors again. After some research and calling Maxxis we learned they were making the Sticky compound creepy crawlers again for race teams. We are excited to give them a workout.

Warn finally got some stock of the 9.0 RC and it showed up while Katelynn and I were in California at Went to test fit it and see the bolt pattern and the hole in the mounting area was too large. I had some thick flat plate laying around so I measure the holes and drilled and cut the plate. I then used a hole saw and cutting wheel and made my opening for the suck down winch. Then got it welded painted and wired. Came out nice.

So our first comp this year in AZ and first time in pro mod was rough. We rolled twice. Once the first day without any significant damage. Ended the first day 17 point behind 1st.
First course of the first day on the first gate we rolled. It broke the winch control box which then pushed into the radiator putting a large hole in it. On the recovery it landed hard on a rock and broke a rear link joint. The Pinion then rotated and broke the rear driveline.

Fortunately we have incredible sponsors that helped get a lot taken care of.
Adams Driveshaft got the broken part repaired then made us new front and rear Drivelines. Old ones will be spares.
Warn sent us a new control box.
Summit Machince sent us a new joint to replace the one that broke.
ORI also rebuilt a strut that had extra tension on it when the pinion rotated up.

I replaced the radiator and re-mounted it further back and on a slight angle. The roll also took out our front fiberglass grill so we had one cut out of aluminum and I mounted it up. We are going to powder coat it Orange to match the wheels.
Also broke a headlight so I order a new set and mounted them back up.
The hood was also dented and bent up so I straightened it best I could and cut some off and changed how it mounted in the front.
We also finally got our 300 m BRANIK Legacy shafts so now we can get more steering. I had to Re-drill my Artec mounts but more steering was accomplished. Not sure we're we are at now but I'd say 45+ degrees. Much more and we will be rubbing on our lower control arms. Can't wait to take it out and test it this week and next.
Here are some before and after pictures.

So after AZ comp roll and destroying a bunch of stuff I decided to give the parts more protection. Front push bar that has bars that are removable so I can put a grill on. This will protect the winch and radiator. Also added a bent bar around the ORIs in the front to give them more protection. Just waiting for our grill to come back from the PowderCoating and I will install it. Huge thanks to Todd Little for helping me figure it all out.

Have you thought about a small bar between the original bar and the new ORI protector on the front side? Probably not likely but a hit before the bend and ORI looks like it could bend it into it still. As the old saying on Pirate4x4 goes. Needs more triangulation 😄

I haven't nor do I plan on it right now. Hopefully it doesn't bend and hit.

Well the buggy is now 100% back together. We got our aluminum grill back from the powder coaters today. Prismatic powder Tangerine Twist. FX does a great job. So lucky to have a quality powder coated just 5 mins away. They also did the wheels and YJ bumpers. If you ever need anything powder coated look them up. Decided to groove the tires because who doesn't want more grip. Hopefully that is how it turns out. Cedar City comp is in one week. I think we are ready.20230428_195517.jpg20230428_195225.jpg20230428_195214.jpg20230428_194529.jpg20230428_184634.jpg20230428_183458.jpg20230428_194630.jpg

This comp thing is beginning to not be any fun. Delta is the one your suppose to have the most fun at.

Day 1 only finished 2 of 4 courses. Of the courses we did finish we jad a top score and 2nd top score. Put us in 4th down like 60+ points.

Day 2 we timed out on our first course. 2nd course had a couple of bonus so we have to try them. Coming off the second one the car didn't have enough speed and it pulled a scorpion. Got it righted and took it back to put oil in it and discover damage that we decided wasn't safe to carry with. We pack up and headed out. Looks like at least 6 bars need to be replaced that I can see.
