Replaced a flag pole mount with this:

Recently I was told by my wife and mother in law that they needed permanent dance barres for the dance studio. So after looking around online, and pricing out local hardware from HD and Lowes, I realized that for nearly the same price we could go 100% customized with Carl's help.

Here's what I was looking at online ($300+ with 3 brackets, hardware, and wood).

Picked a design, made a mechanical drawing with dimensions for Carl, and off to cutting he went.

First finished bracket.

Once finished, I took the four brackets to Armor Powder Coatings for powder coating.

I made the mistake of not removing the small amount of welding spatter, so once coated in a gorgeous satin black coat, any little spatter was pronounced. Jeff is the man, and reshot the brackets the same day with a textured semi flat black, which hid the spatter perfectly. Here's the satin black pronouncing the weld spatter.

First bracket mounted up. This bracket had to be designed/built a bit differently to accommodate the window and still meet the height that the barres needed (41" ofrom the ground)

Two done. I used 3/8" lag bolts to install them into studs.

All four up with wood installed; beefy! Also note the movie reel we had Carl make earlier this year for dance class photos.

Huge thanks to Carl for building these exactly to my measurements, and to Armor Powder Coatings for killer customer service; shot twice in one day for amazing service and price!!

Finally got around to painting it....now I'm told I need to take the ram back off and paint it also, since the orange doesn't match. I'm really leaning toward just using it as-is, since color doesn't affect function.

Ha ha, funny!
Yours puts mine to shame. I guess I'd better get off my butt and paint mine, so it looks less hack. I'm 100% certain it won't be two-tone though....I'm not that patient. Yours looks fantastic!

Found some patience? :D

Not really, just a shortcut. Muleskinner mentioned he just sprayed the one color, then put the black on with a roller--so that's what I did. The rolling took about 20 minutes, most of which was sanding the red to rough it up a bit.

Tacoma liking the orange put me over the edge. I couldn't paint it red, for fear of being too Northern Tool-ey, so it's now black. :)

Crap. So no matter what I do, I can't get away from Tacoma-approval.
