Hwy 65 going to east canyon state park would be a fun one. Not super long but has a fair amount of curves. Saw about 8 Porsche cayanns up there an maybe a fisker or two with them. Looked like they were doing some program since they all had badges an some with name tags. Also saw about 20 more vehicles waiting to head up there head right off the exit off i-80. A few Ferrari's, Acura nsx, masarati, an a bunch more. Only problem was that there were a lot of bikers (pedal) on the road an I was in my mini van, so it wasn't as fun as it could have been.

The Cayman is a nice car, probably either a club run or maybe even a Cannonball/Gumball event.

it didn't look like a cannonball/gumball event mainly because none of them had any numbers or stickers showing some type of event that was taking place. All of them were black and looking at the lead car and the guy driving it (he got out when they were all pulling over) looked almost like they were showing a group of people what the cars can do. Was very similar to a group of JK's we saw out at snakes doing a Michelin 2 day program for some venders or some type of dealer for the tire. I noticed one car in the other group I saw at the bottom of the canyon that looked like it could be a Gumball car. I don't think they got to have the day they wanted though due to all the people out there on bikes.

I went out on the Aprillia yesterday and found myself in the middle of that group. Some of the Ferraris were having fun trying to out run me in the corners and we got a bit crazy. I ended up breaking away and riding thru the rain up big cottonwood canyon. It was a great day got a ride!

that would be fun to go up on a street bike. Did you run into a lot of guys on their road (pedal) bikes?

I'm planning on the events on 9/21. and 10/26. I might be able to swing the 9/2 event on memorial day. I really wish I had some different tires...

Sticky rubber and bigger brakes give a major competetive advantage in autocross.......when you thrash your current rubber and warp your rotors, you'll have justification for upgrading, right?

exactly. I'm not going to autocross super competitively, so I probably won't upgrade the brakes. But it'll be getting new suspension, wheels, and tires within the next 2 months.

I just found out a friend has an uploaded video of me bracket racing my old minivan. This is one of two races in my life where I broke out by .001 second. Ever lose a race by one thousandth of a second? It sucks.

I got some new sticky tires and I had to test them out.

My wife and I drove East Canyon to Trapper's loop yesterday. Nice scenic drive, with a couple fun twisties.

We are doing another drive tonight: Nebo loop.

Shoot me a PM if you're interested in coming. We'll leave Lehi around 5 or 5:30, picnic lunch up at the lakes. It's a beautiful drive that's a LOT of fun.

Got home from work and decided that I'd hit the Alpine Loop as I hadn't yet this year. And I'll tell you, what a great day to have done it! After slogging through the traffic on I-15 and the Highland-Alpine Highway I got to AFC and then POOF! No traffic after the turn off to North Fork. Amazing. I've driven the Alpine Loop dozens of times in my life, and I've never gotten to do it with such, hmm... gusto? What a blast. Especially the spur road to Cascade Springs. It was just spectacular. Just spectacular. I haven't had that much fun with the Miata for a long time.

Anyway, I thought I'd snap a bunch of pictures, but I was having so much fun driving, that I only got a few towards the beginning and end. So, here is one early on during the loop:

And then at Deer Creek at the end:

After the drive I decided to stop in a Chicks Cafe in Heber for dinner. Delicious chicken fried steak as always. And then cruised home, all along the way watching an epic lightning storm off in the distance wondering if it was smart that I left the top down. Fortunately, no rain.

Just a great night. A wonderful reminded why I love cars.

nice, I'll bet that was a great ride. Two friends and I did the alpine loop at night once, and we were the only ones on the road. It was really fun, especially going UP the provo side. Nice pics, thanks for keeping this thread alive.
