What an idiot. Gonna kill someone . Maybe himself.

I'm curious why you think that? It's a two car road, passing is allowed and the speed limit is 90km/h. Judging from the video (and it is a bit hard to make out his speedo) it doesn't look like he is exceeding that. And if he is, not egregiously so. If anything, the other vehicles are the danger as most of them are traveling far below the speed limit and probably not paying attention to the road, but rather the scenery around them. I thought that he was driving very conservatively and safely. Minding traffic, not doing anything crazy, just enjoying a spirited drive in a car designed to handle a road like that.

With F1 over for the season (and yes, it was a boring season. But who cares, its F1!) its always nice to find little gem's like this to hold you over through Silly Season:

My favorite quote is:

"I'm not a driver, I'm a racer." - Stirling Moss

If only I were good enough to be able to say something like that. But only people with boxes full of trophies in the attic and a championship hanging on the wall can claim that right.

Ummm... It's American. Meaning its junk and decidedly not badass. Perhaps you meant lamest? I mean, you could have at least chosen a Mustang of that era. Those at least look good even if they are still hairdresser cars. ;)

A few years ago at the Silver State I had the opportunity to hang out with Big Red's driver RJ, his dad and the crew chief Dave Ward for a day. Big Red is an amazing icon of American engineering and brut horsepower. To stand next to the car, hear it run and watch it perform is something that cannot be described, it is pure heaven to a gear head.

Having ran several of the Open Road Races in Nevada myself, I have a lot of respect for that car and the team behind it.

That'd be sweet. Silver State (even as a spectator) is on my bucket list. Big Red would just be the cherry on top for me. That car is badass before people knew what badass was. Kind of the actual Chuck Norris of cars but you can't make fun of that Chuck Norris cuz he'd totally kick your ass (no offense to the Chuck Norris followers)

I apologize for taking up so much space on the thread but I wanted to share a quote from a August 2005 Hot Rod article about Big Red.

"That's when it happened. Amid the polite conversations of tire ratings and frequent V-12 tune-ups there came a rumble that seemed to generate from well below the earth's crust. We hot rodders in attendance recognized it as the sound of a high-compression big-block Chevy firing up. The rest weren't quite sure what was happening until R.J. Gottlieb backed Big Red out of the trailer, clunked the Jerico into First gear, and slowly idled the surging, barking, bright red '69 Camaro between the rows of shiny new sports cars toward its space next to father Dan's hot rodded '91 Corvette. After R.J. backed it in and hit the switch to kill the 800-horse Rat motor, the world seemed eerily quiet.

Normally, a crowd would gather around such a spectacle, but not here. Not today. The other competitors kept their distance, and all they could do was stare, mouths agape in sad realization that they would all be racing for Second Place, and even then, nobody would care. For this garish American "godawful hotrod" was sure to not only eat their lunch, but to also spit it back in their face and walk off with their trophy wife. "

The entire article can be read at

Gottlieb? The pin-ball manufacturer? Ok...

Audi S1 Quattro Sport would probably do the trick. I think any Skyline GT-R from the R32 onwards. Hmm... AMG E190 Black? E60 M5? Yeah...

As we all know, what it comes down to is personal preference. I have posters hanging in my house from 1970's Trans Am races at Laguna Secca that feature Camero's, Mustangs and AMX's. That was an amazing era, to be sure. But to me, the golden age for performance cars and the most intriguing era is the 1980's forward. Thats the point that "Eurasian trash" cracked the code on the myth of "No replacement for displacement". Its called technology. Turbos, VTEC, VVT. All that technology makes Big Red look like what it is, a dinosaur. A cool one, and it's awesome that it's being used still and not just sitting in a museum. But for me, if I saw it at a meet, I'd probably give it little more than a glance.

Interesting. I'm digging this new concept from Nissan. Reminds me of an old 510 meets an old skyline with a modern twist. I'd be even more stoked if they built 510s just like the old ones, but with a modern motor.

Still not as awesome as this:

The next Supra? It's definitely got MarkIV lines, but I'm not a fan of the front. Too long, and the front dam looks like somebody from Panoz got ahold of it.

Whatever. I'd still drive it. Assuming Toyota ever actually makes it.

I do like this toyota for a 100k plus budget. Not that I have one.

I'm really liking this one too seems like it would be much more attainable. Supercars are cool and all but my interests are peaked when it looks like its something I can afford.

I love me some 510.

I'm itching for a new car. Currently drive an '03 E46 ZHP, which is a great car, but it just feels too "nice". I want something more... raw? Dream car has always been Toyotus Elise and their prices have dropped enough I could make it happen, but it would be a stretch. Also considering a FFR 818, but not ready to make the time commitment to build it. Maybe a Honda converted rover mini?

In the end I want something unique that connects me to the road.

Any input?
