If the cement was used to "lock" rocks that are used for stacking...someone has too much time on there hands. While the intent may be good, it is abuse of the land, and just plain trash dumping.

Think about it...what if this said individual(s) had taken up a piece of junk car and sat it on top of the rocks....why would that be any different? Dumping trash is dumping trash....cement, parts, cans, garbage..whatever it may be. The cement could be replaced with a number of other things that people would be pissed about.

Dumping on the trail, regardless of purpose is stupid. While I don't condone or agree with stacking rocks, it doesn't give someone the right to do something equally as stupid. It's would be like environazis cutting down trees to keep loggers from using them.....very counterproductive.

So I guess the winch anchor on the Eagles Nest should be removed as well? It's concrete to serve a purpose, just like this pile of rocks.

It just occurred to me, does anyone know who did this? It might have been the land owner. We know that the owner has been seen on the property before, it would make sence that an owner would take the time required to do something like this..... liability reasons? Stacked rocks do tend to slip out and cause roll overs.

Nice lol. There has been an increase in WW rollovers as of latley. Just ask Chad, I bet it was do to stacked rocks

I agree if you stack the rocks you should be the one to take them down . as for trail ratings lets keep them that way.But I also did not start out with a money machine or a jeep rubi.I had to wheel what I had my junky old toyota but that did'nt mean that I wanted to stay home while my friends with better set up rigs went and had fun.So again I say unless you are rich our mommy and daddy bought you that cool new rubicone we all had to start with something not that capable.So help those guys out show them the ropes and have fun

The "statement" being made is valid (don't stack rocks), but I'm positive that 99% of the people who see this cement pile will never equate it to a message against rock stacking. Seems like a silly idea regardless of the original intent. The anchor serves a great purpose. Does this? Will the concrete crew be out there monthly to secure all the loose rocks? How many cement piles will we end up with? To sum up: dumb, but your mileage may vary.

Personally, the concrete is the least of the problems with WW. I was out there about two ish weeks ago and the amount of spilled oil/grease was staggering.

I have always been taught that if you roll and spill you pack out as much soiled soil as you can. Hell, I'll go throw some dirt over the concrete so that it can't be seen if the smell of gear oil gets cleaned up by the F head that left it there.

As far as the rocks go, they were not there when the obstacle was found/created so why should they be there now? I do question why the concrete was used, but I can also see that someone was trying to make a point and obviously the point was taken.

There have been many wars over many different trails on this board. I guess we will see how this one plays out. If I had to stage a war it would be the lack of cleaning spilled messes and by passes.

I think the key to what action should be pursued lies with who is responsible.

If the owner truly is responsible, it ought to remain as he wants it. Otherwise, I'm not sure what to do.

If it was the owner, removing it would be a sure fired way to piss him off.

U4 is having thier Little Moab cleanup this Saturday and Teraflex is having an organized ride at 5 Mile Pass this Saturday as well. I plan on going with Teraflex myself and Sunday is right out being Mom's day and all. My Jeep is in the shop until Thursday getting the airbag replaced and a little touch up to the damage that I incurred at WW a couple of weeks ago.

If you wanna break off after the organized ride and/or after the clean up on Saturday, I'd be willing to help ya out. I'm sure I can get a sledge hammer to bring with me. I can also pack some out in the back of my Jeep.

Massively destructive illegal bypass to WW that will create terrible erosion when we get some good rain.


Whether this was weather or some idiot, it defiantly needs to be top priority.


Not to mention the new bypass after the first set of rocks coming into WW that someone made to get around a snow drift (like they could get up WW if they couldn't get through a snow drift) or the atv trail that cuts down into WW or the rampant widening of the baja road that goes from the parking lot to the trails or the ever increasing size of the parking lot or the illegal bypasses on Constrictor or the continual damage to trees on Constrictor or any number of other things that are 10x worse than any of you think the concreted rocks are.

How many people from RME showed up to NPLD this past September? About 20. God bless every one of them, heck, Cody showed up in a CAR. How many people here use that trail? Probably a hell of a lot more than that, ya think?

I am a member of RME. I am also a member of a local off-road club. I participated in NPLD though at a different location. I bet there are probably a few other RME'ers who did the same. You might want to stop and think before spewing out hasty generalizations.

For these concerns, let's do something about them. Do we have the authourity and/or the means to replace the broken sign? If so, lets fix it. What can we do about the bypasses that shouldn't be? The widening road?

Let's get solutions and work towards them.

There weren't any stacked rocks when I attempted WW. I just slid to the left just as every other rig I have seen climbing it does. I just figured WW beat me that time so I need to repair and improve the rig try again. No biggie.

Trust me I have seen MANY people get screwed by stacked rocks on WW
