General Tech What did you work on Today?

Upgraded the factory 2000 XJ trans cooler to a B&M plate style and bypassed the radiator tank heat exchanger. The B&M unit is girthy and required some custom bracketry for mounting it in front of the main cooling fan to clear the AC condenser and grill. I plan on repurposing the factory cooler...

General Tech What did you work on Today?

I completed this 4.5 x 8 trailer remodel a few weeks ago and it turned out so nice that my neighbor came over and purchased it from me as I was wrapping it up.

Mbryson Daily’s driver project ‘91 MJ Comanche

Ive run 1.25" billet spacers on my last 2 XJ's and have over logged 175K miles combined, with zero issues. As for plating the inner and outer steering box area, this is a MUST DO for an XJ. I've experienced no uniframe cracking nor had any issues with steering box bolts coming loose in...

Central Utah February RME Trail Run - Little Sahara Dunes

Dang, I'll be sledding in Wyo next weekend.....seems like I always miss the RME dune run. For those going, the fun bowls are on the back side of Sand Mountain.....70ft+ bowl to bowl launches are doable.

    Jeep Willys 'Crawler' project

^^^ I swapped a TBI 4.3 into a truck a couple of decades ago to replace a 4cyl and 180HP vs the stock 77HP made it a kick in the pants to drive.......still miss that little street scooter.

    Providence Canyon trail status

I need to replace a rear hard brake line that I crushed on my rear axle during the last outing and install new rear pads.......apparently 100k miles is all they can handle. ;>). If I get this done before this weekend, I'd be up for a Prov run.

    Providence Canyon trail status

I know that Cache Valley got pounded with snow this past winter, so I'm curious as to the trail conditions/accessibility of Prov Canyon to Logan Peak. Based on previous years, late May-mid June is typically when you can get all the way up, but this last winter was not typical. Do any of you...

    Dana 30

Not that stupid.....stupid would be, "Will the ABS 91 XJ Dana 30 shafts fit in my 90 Bronco II?" Yes, the difference is going to be that the ABS shafts have a tone ring, which you can ignore in your non-ABS XJ D30. FWIW, the Spicer 5-760x joint replaces the 297x unit, 760 is stronger and...

XJ tech: Frame brace for your steering box.

The relevant part is that XJ's still have a known weakness in the steering box area. Fast forward from 2005, there are now a dozen manufacturers who make/sell XJ steering box area uni-rail reinforcement plates and the one's which have incorporated weld-in sleeves for the steering gear bolts are...

    4.3 wiring harness

Having performed a 4.3 TBI swap using a Howells harness and on another vehicle, performed an AW4 trans swap to replace a BA10 manual trans, this time swapping harnesses myself using a donor harness...... the Howells harness is good money spent. Plug and play.

Advancing timing on 99 Jeep XJ?

Seems like modifying your CPS buy slotting the mounting holes is the adjustable CPS option. http://www.jeep4.0performance.4mg.com/electronic.html

Jeep Nathan and Tanja's 99 XJ Build up

I've always run a Ford style PH8 (Fram or equivelent) filter on my 2000XJ, which provides approx double the filtration surface area over the stock size filter, plus about another pint of oil volume......FWIW.

    Auto VS Manual Trans

Having wheeled with two manual trans equipped rigs and two auto equipped rigs (one was the same rig) I've arrived at the simple equation........Two feet=Two pedals

    Shocking decisions for my XJ

I've run several different shock combo's over the years, but I went with Bilstein 5165's on my current XJ and I've been happy with them. I went with 255/70 valving but you can go with a 360/80 valving if you want a more firm ride. The 7100's are tunable out of the gate, but the 5165's can also...
