    Custom Rig Hauler Trailer

Blowouts are just one issue. You have to plan for the worst emergency condition you are likely to run into or you will eventually be sorry. Other examples from experience: Being sucked in - passed by a close semi going 30-40mph faster than you. Coming down a grade where the trailer brakes...

    Extreme practicality tow rig

Not exactly a pickup, but that is what I did. The beavertails remove so I can use the fifth wheel hitch when I want. Makes it so I don't need to carry around ramps either.

    EJS law enforcement in Moab

Ditto. I've run for several years with no rear fenders or flaps. I've been pulled over a couple of times. I was very respectful and friendly. They warned me on the flaps, but my impression is they were more concerned with real safety (seatbelts, dui, etc)

Tell me about your neighborhood, please . . .

I live in Stansbury Park, so mine is similar to SkylineRider's with a few exceptions: About half an hour from my house to the Airport. I suspect about 35 to downtown. 2 Good Elementary schools. New High school being built close-by. Average age of homes in my neighborhood is about 10 years old...

    Continuous Flow Intersections

I'm not sure what all the bellyaching is about. Do you think Utah traffic is THAT much different than Mexico, New York, and Louisiana that we won't see similar positive results?

If you are in Las Vegas...

X2. I took my wife and kids to this one in Miami. I went to one that was even better last year in Denver. It is called Body Worlds (www.bodyworlds.com). They let you handle some plasticized parts and the display was a little nicer. It is playing now in Chicago, Dallas, and Phoenix. Simply...

    Tool Bags

I carry two: One Craftsman and I think the other is from HF. Make sure the canvas and zipper are plenty strong. When you get one loaded up with a few tools, they weigh a bunch! Still much better than one tool box banging around...

    Les Schwab on Redwood blows

Ditto on the Tooele Les Schwab store. I've had them do tires, brakes, even an axle seal I didn't have time for. Always good to deal with and very reasonable prices. They even offered to order in tractor tires for my mog.

best moab trails to run with kids in carseats...

Pretty much any trail. My boys have seen most the well-known Moab trails from their carseat. Fins n Things is nice. I'd add Moab Rim, Poison Spider, Hell's Revenge, Pritchett, Metal Masher. The other thing is it depends on how old they are. If old enough for a short hike, Klondike Bluffs is...

Best place to get Co2 tank?

I'll second the vote for Universal Cylinder. They will get you new or used, steel or alum, outfit it like you want it for a reasonable price. Then you will have something that has just been certified and is ready to go. They can refill there, too.

Anyone know the fire way of re-beading a tire?

With a little experience, you can get the right amount in first try. Do be cautious about how the tire is positioned in relation to you. In extreme cases, it can blow the bead over the rim. If it is the bottom bead, the whole thing becomes a projectile. Don't ask how I know this. I always...

    cool unimog 'SUV'

Yes, Rob has a Unimog business over in La Junta, Colorado. Lately he has been involved in demoing and selling the new mogs for Freightliner also. He also took over the KillerAxles.com stuff a while back. Don't know what years you were at Slickrock the mog guys, but I've probably seen you...

    cool unimog 'SUV'

That is Rob Pickering from Colorado. He hasn't had that mog for a few years now. I think the video is from 2001. The mog was for sale as of last November by some guy in Texas. http://www.unimog.net/exchange/index.php?do=del&id=20061113152544&page=3

    snowplow on jeep?

You've already got good advice here. From my plowing experience, I would never put a plow on less than a 3/4 ton truck unless you want to spend all day messing around. The plow really puts a heavy load on the front wheel bearings, too. 1 ton is even better. From my own experience and others...

    Interesting idea for EJS 2007

I generally agree with Kurt. What I wouldn't mind is a little more enforcement from rangers, and a little stiffer fines or penalties for breaking the law year round. Then use the money to improve and repair after folks who aren't treading lightly. The only place I have seen stepped up...

Does anyone know anything about emissions systems?

I'm not an expert on this either, but I may have one recommendation: If the results didn't come from a real VW computer reader (VagCom), have that done first. Any tuneup shop can read the generic messages since the VW computers will spit out ODBII compliant messages, but you will get much more...

    Harbor Freight

I've had one of these red pep boys units for several years. I like the way it folds up easily and rolls into the corner. Even handled the 1100 lb mog engine without too much groaning...

    Aircards - which to buy?

I have a Sprint card from work. Works well - If you get a good EVDO connection, it can be blazing fast. My only complaint is work just bought me a new D820 and the internal cards only support Verizon or Cingular so I have to use the PCMCIA.
