    I learned something new today

I got mine from a friend at work, it was his dad's who was the original owner. They bought it back in the fourties to haul bricks and stuff to build their cabin up in Brighton. Don't aquire one like some guys did down the street from my brothers house. His neighbor had his Willys trailer out...

    I learned something new today

Mine is the civilian version that they built right after the war, it has a tailgate, stake pockets, and no emergency brake, but looks the same as yours otherwise. I would also like to make mine into a fun camping trailer. It looks like it would be very easy to do a spring over but maybe it would...

    I learned something new today

I am fixing up an old 1946 Bantam 3C jeep trailer and this morning I was swapping the tires and rims on it. The right side worked fine but the rusty left side lug nuts wouldn't budge so I broke out the big 3/4 socket set breaker bar and made them turn but they wouldn't come off. So I figured...

    TJ engine swap problems

I would check to make sure all of the harness grounds were hooked up properly, a floating ground can have some very strange effects. I wouldn't think that the interior wiring harnesses would be different but if you wanted to experiment I have a 99 tj steering column and interior harness you can try.

    jeep loosing oil fast

I used a PCV valve and valve cover grommet from an 85 cj7 with a 6 cylinder motor, two feet of 3/8 fuel hose, and a new manifold 3/8 nipple. The CCV (constant crankcase ventilation) is the rubber valve and plastic pipe on the rear of the valve cover. It gets plugged up easily and on high mileage...

    jeep loosing oil fast

The most common leak areas are the valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket and the rear main seal. I've also seen the O-rings on the oil filter mount leak badly. Try to find where the leak is coming from by cleaning the engine up then watching carefully while it runs to see if you can pinpoint the...

    Need hiking trail suggestions

North and South Willow canyons are quite scenic and there are some good trails. The upper ones will still have snow. They are in the Stansbury mountains south west of Granstville. Another closer hike is up Georges Hollow up to the stone chairs. The trail head is just north of Huntsman chemical...

    98 AW-4 to OBD1 4.0L

I looked at the 93 and the 92 and they both had two large lobes that are for triggering the sensor.

    Uh-oh chunks in the oil

I pulled the pan on the 4.0 in the Grand Cherokee that my wife picked up that had an engine knock. I was expecting to see a bad rod bearing and crank but what I found was chunks of one of the pistons in the pan:sick: I'm wondering what would make the lower skirt from a piston break off ????

    98 AW-4 to OBD1 4.0L

When I did my 4.0/aw4 swap in my cj8 I used a 99 TJ motor and a 95 aw4. I used 93 xj wiring harnesses. Everything works fine on my setup. I did use a speed sensor on it so my cruise control would work properly. My son put in a 96 obd2 aw4 into his 87 MJ and it worked fine but I'm not sure if a...

    Extreme Scrambler Makeover

It probably sits higher because the body mounts aren't rotted out and parts aren't hanging off. I stopped off Friday afternoon after a parts run to lend a hand but no one was there.

    Silver Island Mountains ?

Has anyone been out to this range ? It looks interresting. There are jeep trails shown on the maps that are cherry stemmed into the WSA. Is it worth a trip out ? The range is northeast of Wendover.

    CV Driveshaft HELP!!!!

They can usually be rebuilt as long as you don't let them get real bad and damage the ujoint mounting flanges.

    need help

I swapped a 4.0 into my cj8 and know what you would need to do. There is a good web site that is dedicated to swapping in 4.0 engines. You can find the site at cjoffroad.com, it has lots of good information.

    Extreme Scrambler Makeover

[ I appreciate the offer on the pump, though I'm not sure how it would help. It looked in the picture like the steering shaft was very close to the pump and hose connection and I thought that was where you were having clearance problems. If the shaft does hit the manifold you could use a two...

    Extreme Scrambler Makeover

You could try lowering the steering column a bit or even tipping the steering gear box a bit to get a bit more clearance. There may even be a different PS pump that could help out. I think I may have some in the basement from other chevys that have more clearance. I'll look to see what I can...
