Superfly makes the key point. Most the rules are there for a reason. If we think they are pointless, work to change them. Thus the difference between a trail rig and a daily driver has to be made somewhere, and it usaully for the sake of others.

Obviously not as big of a tire, but we used to run 185/85r13 snow tires to wheel an 84 Sub. With the adjustable suspension as the only "lift" still had almost 12" ground clearance. Cheap and effective.

One other thought is where are going to wheel and in what weather? When the UOOC did a snowy/icey run in the Sheep Rock Mountains in November, the rigs with mud treads of any brand had a much harder go than those with an all-terrian tread. BFG A/Ts.

Tend to agree here. The fact that alot of great off-roading close doesn't make a trail rig any safer on the highway. I understand the frustration with the move and being fine in another state. I would say make the modest changes needed to be legal and safe, and then enjoy playing!

About the best place I know of the check with is Red Cliffs outside Moab. They have a museum on movies and t.v. shows made in Utah.
